A freelancer's reputation is everything, but for Garret Brennar having too much of one can be a detriment to his line of work. The Republic Special Service agent works deep undercover as a freelancing transport pilot, ferrying cargo and passengers between the different colonies while, simultaneously, running covert missions for his benefactors in the central government to quell dissent and seek out those responsible.

Born amongst the dregs of the capitol world's undercity, he had to mete out a harsh and unforgiving existence; the half-breed offspring of a Loxeni father, and Shiksen mother, a pairing that was not only considered taboo in the republic, but despised by both races. Yet, as he was growing up, he learned to survive off of the rough metal that composed the streets of the Drekkosath District of the undercity.

Early into his youth, he studied through a deep fascination of computers and the language that spoke between all datanet access terminals. He eventually became an adept hacker, and throughout his later youth he would cause frequent havoc with government systems (or what passed for the government in the undercity). While government services never found him, his antics and growing reputation drew the attention of the local crime syndicates - in both good and bad ways. His skills were sought after, by those who wanted to use them and by those who wished to suppress or cut it out entirely. He made a living selling his sleuthing and hacking services to whoever paid the most, but he eventually dug too deep - and as a result, Republic Special Services came after him. His identity was discovered and he quickly became the most hunted individual on the homeworld of the United Thoram Republic - until the government offered him a way out.

Finding no other option, if only to retain his existence, Garret took up the offer to become a Special Service agent, and underwent a rigorous and trans-formative process.

A brief snippet that you may, or may not, care about concerning the backstory of my original character; I've had Garret as several different concepts over the years until I settled on a full science-fiction background. Hard to think that this character originally started as a Sonic fan character back in the old days of 2004, when I was in middle school; then he became a fox. And now he's a wolf-shark!

The snippet concerns an original setting I'm in the process of developing. Not really entirely sure how much more work is going to be put into it, but it's something I would certainly like to finish and, perhaps, even publish.
