So the story goes, I had agreed to transport some Fursuiters down to Suhl, for some last-day fun, and seeing none of the other drivers wanting to lead the day, I decided "Sod it, I'll drive down on my own" And annoyingly...they all followed me.
The street I drove down had a sign at the entrance. It said "Taxi's and Busses only" Unfortunately, it said it in German. I dont speak German. The Germans in the German car behind me DID speak German....but followed me anyway. So did four or five other cars.
Half way down the street, a Police van pulls up in front of me. I figure "Hey, I'm on the right side of the street for once..." and flash my lights, trying to get him to move out my way. Instead, he gets out, comes over to the passenger side window, pauses for a moment at the sight of a buncha fursuits, and starts rambling on at me in German. My reaction? "I only speak English mate"
His Reaction? "THIS IS TAXI ONLY STREET! 15 EURO FINE! 15 EURO! YOU PAY NOW!" I'm like "Hells bollocks, 50 Euro?!" And quickly scramble for my card. I hold it up, with a friendly "ATM?"
To which he virtually screamed "NEIN! 15 EURO NOW!" I'm like "Cashpoint?" And he seems to be getting more and more flustered, visibly flailing his arms when he screams at me this time. I try one last thing..."Deutche Bank?" he pauses, then blurts out "2 minute!" before stalking off after the other drivers, who had started to turn around. He was one Angry German.
Somehow, this story got back to the Hotel before I did. And for the rest of the con...Furball Run...and several weeks since, I seem to be greeted with quite a lot of "15 EURO!"
Many thanks to

You guys ever notice how events like this get grossly exaggerated? For instance, I have heard a version of the events above which ended in me getting tackled to the ground by half a dozen big burly officers and dragged off into the back of a van. I've also heard a version where I was screaming insults at the officer....in German. I cant even say "Can I use a cashpoint?!" in German!
Lol don't get that in the states, more like a ticket and then you have to go to court for like a hour to come find out you didn't have to pay anything. so in the end you spend about that in time and gas to get the issue resolved. i might just pay the dude for that instead of jumping through hoops and red tape.
I think he was having a really bad day, hehe, not sure how well that'd go down, but I'll give it a try next time I'm in Germany! It doesn't work too well on British Police...I find disproving their claims better. "I was doing 90? Pfffft! My car can barely do 80 downhill!"
should have asked me along mate.
The germans like me...don't know why though
Anyway your response should have been.
