Like slicing into young fruit, down to the pink heart. And hers were the loveliest
eyes he had ever seen, filled with so much hurt, it was beautiful and painful to
look at. The princess put her hand to her chest, as if she could keep her heart
from slipping between her ribs and following him wherever he went. Her fingers
hovered in the air, plucking a chord in his chest, making him hesitate...
"Stay," she said, softly and without begging. A command from a creature as
delicate as she was noble. He hesitated at the threshold, large hands trembling.
The man who had ended a thousand lives, trembling at single word uttered by a
small, tender female who barely came up to his chest...
