The Hydrangea is a much loved flower with many a meaning and sentiment. There may be different definitions - by hue or by arrangement - in conveying the emotion behind such a simple gesture of gifting them.
Nemui kept this notion in mind as she strolled through the luxurious botanical gardens in the grand courtyard of Eldorai, the Celestial Palace. The gentle splashes and featherlight chimes of stellar water filled her ears and soothed her senses as she passed by one of four huge crystal fountains with a large twelve-pointed star decoration at its crest- soft sprays of water grazing across the flora of the nearby nursery. Her fingertips traipsed across the dewy petals she crossed with her sweeping strides, the other hand hooked just beneath her lower lip in thought, a slight furrow in her brow as she hummed with contemplation.
Due to the magical nature of the gardens, unusual colourations of the flower were expected and vast. Several unnatural options sat arrayed becomingly before Nemui, along with their natural counterparts. Her eyes grazed across several of the bushels, listing each colour and their associated sentiment in her mind.
Blue - regret. Hardly fitting for The Dreamwalker, more so for her elder sister. How about pink? Heartfelt feelings, love, romance- now, that felt more apt. Or perhaps white! Purity, grace, but a tad lackluster and overdone. Also, white hydrangeas are linked to boasting or bragging, which was even more unsuitable. Purple? Ostentatious. No, none of these would do, she concluded with a sigh.
Her gaze lifted as a gust of wind caused a movement nearby.That’s when she saw the sudden flare of orange. She cast her golden eyes across a cluster of the specimens of the flower and a smile graced her pink lips as she lowered the hand near them, caressing their petals affectionately. Yes, these would do fantastically! They complimented her honey hues and contrasted her oceanic ones!
Eagerness overtook her, logic being lost momentarily, as she reached forward and swept the hydrangea bushel into her embrace- seemingly hugging them to her chest in a display of adoration. However, she suddenly pulled back after a moment, her nose twitching and wriggling about before she stumbled forth with the force of the incoming-
“A-Aahh-ACHOO!!!”
Sneeze.
