Moon watched with a mix of despair and frustration as the pink mantis-like Grass Pokemon she was battling delivered what looked to be a ridiculously powerful Leaf Blade attack upon her poor Brionne. In just one hit, the trial-goer's last partner out of her team of three was out cold. The last-ditch attempt was going to be to put Lurantis to sleep with one of Brionne's deviously calming songs, but it proved to be much too powerful of an opponent. When she saw this Lurantis in the jungle of Akala, it was clear that between the beautiful, lush pink hues that colored it and the need for a strong battler that could take some Grass-type hits for the upcoming trial in the Lush Jungle, this Lurantis had to be hers.
It seemed not to be the case, though. With the Lurantis’s surprising amount of battle prowess, Moon was left with absolutely no Pokemon at all, and the defeated trainer found herself face-to-face with the powerhouse. Looking at it, Moon could see the pride in Lurantis's face. Pokemon were always so expressive. It seemed like there were no hard feelings for the sudden battle she had thrown Lurantis into. Simply just some extra satisfaction for the Bloom Sickle Pokemon to relish in. With that, she ordered Brionne to return to its ball to get some rest.
As soon as Moon looked up, she nearly shrieked in surprise and panic as she saw Lurantis leap toward her, a pink flash closing in on her. Lurantis's thick-armed weapons glowed brightly, intent on delivering another fatal Leaf Blade, this time at the petrified girl in front of it. Cowering down as tightly as she could in her panicked state, Moon waited for the worst.

It all happened so fast that she almost couldn't believe what happened next. A huge, thick root surfaced from the earth and swiftly blocked the slicing blade. Lurantis quickly glanced around wondering what could have possibly happened. She got her answer when she saw a fellow Grass type Pokemon standing at the trainer's side. A dark brown tree-like creature with a single glowing red eye and root-like arachnid legs stood tall, extending a large hand forward.
"Trevenant?" Lurantis asked, lowering her blades.
"Back away from this innocent little girl here," Trevenant ordered in a stern tone of voice.
Lurantis didn't hesitate to obey. Trevenant was the protector of this jungle, and she maintained peace within it. Everybody respected Trevenant, even the most fearsome of the forest inhabitants. Lurantis knew better than to go against that, as although this trainer's Pokemon fell to her might like trees that were uprooted during a powerful storm, she did not stand any chance against Trevenant. Trevenant had developed an effective fighting style with roots summoned from the ground. Roots were thick and tough, good for offense and defense, high with range and battling versatility. Knowing she was at a disadvantage, Lurantis shamefully looked down at the ground, suddenly a more tamed beast than when she tried to give the trainer a lesson-teaching sendoff.
"Trevenant, I don't know what I did wrong," Lurantis explained herself, "this trainer was trying to capture me. I'm a part of this forest too- why aren't you mad at her for intruding the forest and picking a fight with me?"
Trevenant sighed.
"Lurantis, this human wanted to catch you because of your beauty and your strength. I saw it unfold- she challenged you to a fair battle, but when she lost, you sought to assert your dominance further than you should have," the jungle matriarch elaborated. "It's okay to prideful, but not to be too assertive. Especially to innocent and harmless visitors who have no intentions of hurting our home."
All this morality talk from Trevenant annoyed Lurantis. She was a proud pink mantis, the glory of the jungle. The magnificent spectacle of combat and beauty. All at the same time, she couldn't help but feel guilty. Lurantis still respected Trevenant and what she had to say. She looked over to the human. The human's face wasn't full of shock or panic, but rather a new-found interest in the situation. It likely wasn't every day a human got to see something as beautiful as Lurantis herself and something as intimidating as the forest's mother, Trevenant, all in the same area.
"Can I promise not to do it again and pretend like this never happened?" Lurantis tried to negotiate.
"For nearly harming a visitor to the forest, I will not allow you to get off as easily as you think you can. I will punish you myself. Kneel onto the forest floor, and bring your arms out in front of you.," instructed the Elder Tree Pokemon.
Taking a deep breath and conservatively exhaling, Lurantis obeyed orders and got onto her knees. She didn't know what to expect as she brought her meaty mantis-arms in front of her. The human looked at Lurantis curiously, though the latter surmised that she had nothing else better to do. Lurantis still did not like this human. She narrowed her eyes and gave as much of a glare as she could to the bystander, but it didn't seem to have any effect.
However, there was no time for frustration. Lurantis felt the ground beneath her tremor, and soon after, several roots emerged from the soil. Struggling to stay still, the mantis could only look around as long and dexterous roots inched in... on her! Biting her lower lip- as much of one as a mantis would have- she prepared herself as Trevenant coiled, wove, and tightened roots to seemingly restrain Lurantis. They bound her arms together and they also tightened around her ankles. Some roots simply emerged from the ground to dance around in an intimidating matter.
"T-Trevenant, what're you going to do to me?" Lurantis asked, gradually feeling more nervous.
"Young Lurantis, I wish to teach you a lesson in humility. For going overboard in asserting your strength to a fellow life form who had already lost, I want your former opponent to see you in a state of weakness," emphasized Trevenant, watching Lurantis's increasingly defeated situation and the human curiously looking on.
"Ma'am, I-I've learned my lesson! I assure you- there's no need to resort to extreme measures!"
"I am not going to attack you. Instead, I will apply pressure to your weak points to bring you down some pegs. Now, I care for all inhabitants of my forest, and each and every one of them is my friend. I remember when we first met when you were just a little green Fomantis. I don't have time to tell you all about those days, but I remember learning one key thing about you that will play out in this punishment I have laid out for you: your feet are remarkably... ticklish."
Immediately, Lurantis trembled in her vegetated restraints. Her pink toes clenched, and she tried cutting herself free to no avail. In a quick ambush, the roots surrounding Lurantis moved in with devilish intent. They explored Lurantis's helpless, squirming feet, testing for the most sensitive areas. Small, specialized roots spawned in, coiling and scritching around to survey the pink peds with their rougher and scrapier structures.
"Good, laugh away all that arrogance; I won't let up until I can see you sweating humility in its place,” Trevenant said sternly.
Each root seemed to eventually settle on one specific area. Trevenant had pinpointed all of the sweet spots to make the mantis squeal. Rougher roots combed through her two-toed feet, and some devilishly prickly ones scrubbed across the softer arches. Squeezing her toes yielded no results, as the tiny roots that got stuck between managed to meander through anyway.
“Eeeeheeheee! W-Why tickling?!” the hysterical Grass Pokemon mustered.
“I already told you. To show this human that you too are capable of being just as weak as you made her look,” the assailant repeated.
More roots emerged from the soil, joining the party and taking their spots on the pink dance floor that was the entirety of either of Lurantis’s feet. They twirled on, and under, her toes, and they dragged in a path going straight down those sensitive arches. Ever since she was little, Lurantis could always remember being exceptionally ticklish, and she had first found out when Trevenant visited her parents’ and couldn’t help but be a bit playful with her younger self. Now, time had repeated itself. Lurantis found herself here, as a fully-grown mantis, being targeted and tormented by the mother figure of the forest, though much more intensely.
Struggling was useless, and being as unfortunately susceptible to touch on her soles losing energy an easy feat for Lurantis. She would occasionally swallow before going back into bursts of laughter. How humiliating it was, especially right in front of the human. Looking at the human, the victim saw that the former had not lost any interest at all. In fact, her face showed the opposite. A look reveling the torment she was being put under. The human had no sympathy. A smirk and eyes with a sinister shine in them showed it all. This girl was glad such an impromptu bad karma for her former assailant had come up. Seeing that look made Lurantis angry at that girl, but only briefly, because any emotions she felt went back to the despair that came with being tickled.
All of this, and only two minutes passed. The human had sat down on a nearby rock, observing from an angle where she could see the blushing peds of the unfortunate mantis. Trevenant stayed very concentrated on providing the most intense and varied torment she could, just to get the point across more easily.
“P-Please! I’ve learned my lesson!” Lurantis surrendered.
No dice. It wasn’t enough.
After five minutes had passed, Lurantis had grown visibly weaker. Struggling ceased, and already, she had surrendered herself to the confines of the roots. Those soft feet were now a hotter shade of pink, and consequently warmer to the touch as well. The scratching and prodding becoming a constant that was directed toward Lurantis’s feet was getting to her. It felt so odd- the sensation was almost like an itch not being scratched hard enough, but also an itch being scratched way too hard. Yeah, that was what it felt like. Lurantis didn’t even know what to feel anymore.
Yet, it was only five minutes. Five minutes that seemed like hell to the defeated Grass type. The human, having come in for a closer look, appeared to wish she could be the one dealing the tickle torture. Her hands gradually extending forward in the direction of the feet gave that type of impression. Trevenant herself moved closer to the human to show that it was okay to get close. Anything to add to the humiliation would make the punishment more effective. It was by the time that ten minutes had passed that Lurantis could barely hold it together anymore.
“PFFAHAHAHAHA! M-my feet! Trehehevenehent, I’m so sorry! I-I was wrong to ahahahattack the human the way I did! Lemmegoplease!” she sputtered in defeat.
“Hmmm,” Trevenant paused.
“TREVENANT! PLEEHEEHEASE! I beg you! I’m going to die!”
“If you really feel that way, I suppose I have punished you enough.”
With that, Trevenant backed down, and the roots dropped lifelessly. Despite this, as Lurantis tried to cut her way free from her binds, she found that they still kept her glued down. Tumbling forward on her belly to rest her body, the air-needy mantis let out a whimper. It was not a fun experience in the slightest. Lurantis now swore that she wouldn’t screw up like this in front of Trevenant again. If she would ever be released from this situation, that was.
“Trevenant… I… I was foolish… please, release me and I’ll… I’ll never even try to harm anybody ever again…,” the exhausted ticklee apologized between bants.
“I am very pleased to hear that,” Trevenant said, “I expect great things out of you in the future. Remember your limits and to respect others’ as well. Make the jungle proud.”
“I will, I promise. C-Can you let me go, please?”
Trevenant chuckled, and turned her attention to the human. The trainer backed a step or two back from Trevenant, but a woody, three-fingered hand calmly grasped the five-fingered one. Trevenant gestured the human to come with her. Seeing the two of them walk right past her head and around to her back was a bad omen for Lurantis.
“Now that you I have put in your place, you only have one more individual left to apologize to,” Trevenant replied.
Trevenant gave Lurantis’s feet a quick finger-scrabble with her pointy fingers. Lurantis giggled, in contrast with the horrific realization of what was to come. There was only one other individual Trevenant could possibly be referring to. Letting out another whimper, Lurantis surrendered and no longer bothered to hide her feet. They were still quivering from their last session. Hopefully the human was less of a rough tickler than Trevenant.

Moon looked down at the Pokemon’s twitching and rosy-blushing feet. Scraped raw by the roots, and now this Trevenant was offering her a turn. Something satisfying about how the tables turned around on Lurantis the way they did. A crushing loss of power that turned even somebody tall and formidable into a helpless giggling fit. It was actually very remarkable. Even a little exciting.
And that excitement was what Moon felt when she wasted no time digging into her two pink play things. The restrained Pokemon let out a cry of unmistakable hysterical laughter. Still too tired to struggle free from the Trevenant’s roots, Moon had no need to worry of what may happen to her if her victim broke free. She had this friendly Trevenant at her side, anyway.
Moon’s set of ten fingernails came in handy, each acting like an individual one of Trevenant’s roots. Her nails were well-kept, and made for naturally good tickle tools, grazing or etching away at the unfortunate mantis’s feet. Scattering her fingers all around made Lurantis squeal, and making Lurantis squeal was Moon’s new top priority. Hearing a satisfactory shriek out of Lurantis as Moon explored the spaces between Lurantis’s toes, the Pokemon Trainer had decided that perhaps maybe another hour or so in this jungle would do. It wasn’t like Mallow’s trial was going anywhere anytime soon. In the meantime, making Lurantis squirm and laugh her unique Pokemon laughter would do it for now. For sure, this would be quite an exciting experience to go through.
They never expected the Lurantis tickles!
I had a struggle finding colors for Lurantis, so I hope these compromises suffice. Hopefully y'all enjoyed the nice little story for this, and if you skipped it, I at least hope the picture was worth something for you. Wings and huge arm-things aside, Lurantis is fun to draw.
Moon is reflected to look like my player in Pokemon Moon. She's kinda... oddly drawn in terms of anatomy here, but I liked her inclusion in here.
