King Simba and King Jabari are close friends and allies. They both knew each other when they were cubs. They were very close. When Simba needed helped remove Hyenas from the Pride Lands during the Battle of Pride Rock, Jabari and members of his pride gave Simba and his Pride their aid.
Jabari toke care of Hyenas in the land and keep them away from Pride Rock, while Simba's Pride fights the Hyenas on Pride Rock, and Simba challenges his evil uncle, Scar for the throne.
When the battle was over, and Simba became king, Jabari and his Pride were given gratitude from Simba himself. Since then, both prides have been good allies, and Jabari and Simba are really close friends.

He lived in a different pride, he wanted to help but couldn't risk his Pride from getting attacked by Scar.
He couldn't save Sarafina, but he did protect Nala when she left the Pride Lands. She came to his Pride, then left to go look for some help. Then is when she found Simba in the Oasis years later.
