I know, I know. But a little lie, a little deception means that you can kill someone twice. "En route" to the D-A star. Traveling there. Letting Es jump to conclusions. Then- "What would you do for me to save them?" Or him. We only ever saw one guy. The right proof can lead someone astray just as well as speculation can.
From the author: This is not a deception toward the audience or Estephine. This is an actual death. The others aren't seen because I didn't have the patience to draw them all, so I was hoping the audience could fill in the blanks, because I am a terrible artist who is too lazy to do anything right.
From a fan: Cyberpunk adventures have a strong current of paranoia and betrayal, otherwise it's just be an argument in techtopia. Give a man enough rope and he'll open a rope shop and be hung by the rope mafia.
Example question: How did Es get picked up, shipped there, into the building, through security, and secretary-escorted into the office with a gun?
So very many ways to get searched by many untrusting people.

So what's he gonna do for an encore?
T can do whatever he wants in his comics. This is just an example of a)readers not paying attention b) readers trying to second guess him c) arguments over fine point details.
If he's such a big bad business bunny, why would he double his losses by burning another ship? The only way to make a name for himself is to spread word that he commited a premeditated arrest-able capitol crime on purpose. A bad move, no matter who he's got in his pocket. A move like that would cause mistrust and suspition amongst the loyal. How well-thought-out is T's story? Perhaps there's a few similarly treated bunnys who would want Es bumped off to hurt Bunny Warbucks.
