I just realized, you just happened to coincidentally post this on July 13th, 2018, which was exactly 45 years and one day after the UK-wide theatrical release of the original movie. The release wasn't all the same day for everywhere. It was June 27th for North America, the gala premiere event in London was July 5th or 6th, and it seems like the region-wide release was July 12th.
[It's hard to get exact dates on anything but the big premieres, from back then. Heck, even when it was meant to 'come out' on a certain day, that used to just be when a film began to be released slowly across a country, like a big week-by-week wave.]
