Not much is known about the dragons of the Elder type...
They were at first named "Elder" due to their huge size and wisdom, which was thought to be linked to their age. It was later found that the "Elder" Dragons were in fact a very rare, special type of dragons holding (in theory) some sort of gene of gigantism that would allow their body to grow faster and seemingly without ever stopping during their life. The name Elder Dragon was kept to call these rare dragons living around the large planet.
They are merely a handful to exist at the same time. Many die young among the other whelps, and those who grow up have the risk to pass away near maturity, as their body and mind try to keep up with the power and ultimately fail. Some even die due to the ego they get, which brings them to do inhumane acts, leading to raids of champions being sent to take the monsters down for the safety of the world.
Only theories exist as to why the Makers would have created these colossal giants of scales. Some would say it is a failure in their core program, that is then given through the core genes. Others say they are just born over mana sources, and so, become corrupted and mutated. The most likely explanation is that they were meant to lead the dragon species long ago.
Even less is known as to how they come to be. It seems unlikely that the place and time are a factor. It is thought to be a rare core gene that only very rarely activate at the creation of a dragon.
The gene tends to make them build up more muscle mass, to keep up with the weight and size. But it is likely the underground mana helps with carrying their body. It is also their weakness, as each movement is slowed down. It leads to the Elder Dragons prefering to use smaller forms such as the anthropomorphic one.
And nowadays, Kael is the current youngest "Elder" Dragon of his planet, looked down by the few others, much older ones.
He survived through the lethal maturity, making him an adult Elder Dragon fully capable to live on for the rest of his life without any health troubles.
(This picture was meant to be a sequel to https://www.furaffinity.net/view/19630016/ but I love it so much that I feel it could be its own story instead of a sequel ^^)
A HUGE thank to
nazuu-m0nster for the amazing picture! They made the body so perfect and powerful! I cannot stop staring at it!

I don't think I ever mentioned before. But whenever I talk about feral shapes I adore, I always bring this piece up.
Personally, I die over that big like, bulky front, wide spread front feet. Can't say more than assuming, but the hips being thin enough that they only pass on the inside, as well as that BIG chest. I love that so much, and I don't know why.
Maybe it's that like, heavy, possibly soft/comfy feeling it gives off. The beefy arms and neck only just add to that whole feeling too.
