This is a reboot to the Kaiju Kat story. Giving them a bit more grounding and a better origin.

“I can’t work like this!” The scientist yelled. Throwing a PDA against a wall. “They destroy everything!” He cried. “That’s the third lab they have wrecked and this time it’s covered in Crystals! Crystals! How is that even Possible!?!”

“Listen...I understand your frustration but they are cubs, and the first two of their kind….They need a loving nurturing environment to grow.” The other scientist said trying to remain calm.

“They are monsters and this project should have been scrapped from the get go.”

What the two scientists didn’t know is that they had an audience. A young chakat cub with dark green fur, wild black hair and glowing neon blue glowing socks on hir paws and arms. Hir eyes glowed with a strange glow as well. Hir name was Blazespirit. And she was maybe four. But shi knew they were talking about hir. Shi was a very smart cub. Shi and hir sister Starnova were different from normal Chakat cubs. They were part of a program to breed chakats that could survive in harsher climates and explore more planets that others wouldn’t be able to land on.

To this degree they used DNA found in a cold vault created by the Pre Gene wars Pan-Asian Alliance. The ancient fictional monsters called Kaiju. Turns out they were an alien species that inspired the ancient monster movies. Blazespirit came from the DNA of a creature known as Gojira. Some reports said Godzilla though. Hir sister’s DNA came from a creature called Space Gojira. They were designed to be a Chakat and Chakamil. Starnova was the Chakamil.

Blaze walked away from the room silently. The only sign of hir passing was the blue glow that hir limbs gave off. Shi was angry and hurt. And now shi was unsure of their future.



Two weeks later….



Blaze and Nova were in their room talking in whispers. The two of them had been avoiding the scientists as much as possible since what Blaze heard. Blaze wanted out. Shi wanted to escape and take hir sister with hir. However they both smelled one of the scientists coming and Blaze pushed hir smaller sister behind hir.

The Scientist walked into the room. “Blazespirit, Starnova, I need to speak to you.” The human said. He than had to duck behind the door as Blaze tried to attack him with a ring of atomic fire. Shi still hadn’t mastered a steady stream of fire yet. “Blaze!! What is wrong with you!?”

“You stay away from my sister!” Shi growled. “I heard you talking. I heard you saying we were monsters!”

Well now the scientist felt guilty, he hadn’t meant for the cubs to overhear his tirade. “Listen I didn’t mean that...I just want to talk to you….so if you’ll just calm down I can tell you what’s going on.” He tried to step back into the room. Only to have to run back out again because this time he almost got Zapped from Nova. “Dammit you two!!”

“Why don’t you let me try.” A new voice said. A chakat walked into the room. Shi had black fur on most of hir body with teal blue leopard spots. Shi had white fur on hir belly and muzzle. Shi radiated a calm motherly feeling. “Hello cubs, I am Starpelt child of Blizzardpaw and Snowpelt.” Shi said gently.

Blazespirit stayed between this stranger and hir sister. “I am Blazespirit...and if you hurt my sister I will burn you!”

“Why would I hurt you?” Starpelt asked gently.

“They call us monsters!” Nova said shi was just as wary as hir sister.

“You’re not monsters you’re children and you don’t need to be in a lab...you need a family...would you like to come live with my family?” Shi asked gently.

“You….would let us live with you?” Nova asked. “At your home? Not in a lab? We could go outside?” Shi asked frowning

“Yes, you will come live with my family. I have a daughter who would love to meet you.” Shi said gently.

“Understand Shir Starpelt that our lab can in no way be held responsible for any damage these two do to your home.” The scientist said, trying to cover his ass.

The look of anger that Starpelt turned on the human would have made even a Rakshani turn tail and run. “I would suggest you worry about the inquiries that are going to be made into your work….this was done without the knowledge of anyone on Chakona...This program is going to be shut down and these two are going to live as normal of a life as I can give them….you will have no further contact with them!” Shi growled.

The scientist gulped. “But….”

“Quiet!” Shi growled. Shi then turned to the two cubs and walked over and scooped them up. “Come on. I have friends who are going to deal with him.” Shi whispered.

Blaze squirmed at first but the feeling of being held like this was calming. Shi relaxed slowly. Leaning into the embrace shi had not known shi needed.

Starnova didn’t really relax and even though shi was calmer shi did try to bite Starpelt with a growl.

Star yelped. “Oh you are going to be just as bad as Mistdancer was.” Shi said grabbing Nova by hir scruff. Shi smiled. “No biting.”

Nova just gave a mischievous grin.

Starpelt smiled. “Yup...trouble.”




Starpelt took the two cubs back to hir home in Amistad. Shi’d warned hir Lifemate and Denmate that shi would be bringing the two cubs home with hir. Hopefully hir daughter Mistdancer would take to these two. They needed a sense of normal...or as normal as they could get. Shi parked the PTV and got out. Moving to get the cubs out only to find them chewing on the Safety harnesses. “Okay I’ll have to add that to the replace list…” She unbuckled the harness on Nova and instantly had to grab hir by the scruff as shi tried to dart off. “Wait. Let me get your sister free and you can both go into the backyard and play.”

Nova lowered hir ears. “Okay.”

Once Blaze was released shi led them both into the backyard. Shi was lucky that hir family had a large property in Amistad. But given the fact that hir Denmate was a MMA Superstar it probably wasn’t surprising. They usually had one or two fans stop by a day looking to try and catch an autograph from Wildheart, the sabertooth chakat who won so many titles, as well as Starpelt’s heart. Starpelt was brought out of hir musings by a streak of Silver that pounced hir. “Daddy!”

Starpelt yelped as shi caught hir daughter. “Hey Misty, I’ve brought two new playmates for you. They’re a bit younger but they need a lot of love and friendship.”

The seven Year old silver sabertooth cub looked at the two Kaiju Kats. Shi than smiled. “Hey I’m Mistdancer child of Wildheart and Starpelt!”

“I’m Blazespirit...child of Gojira.” Shi mumbled a bit.

“I’m Starnova, child of Space Gojira.” Shi seemed a bit more curious than hir sister. Shi walked over and sniffed at Mistdancer. Shi than grinned and licked the seven year old on the tip of hir nose, there was a crackle of static and all of Mistdancer’s fur poofed out.

Misty blinked and shook hirself to get some of hir fur to settle. “What was that!!? It was so cool! You should come to the Pub with me you can meet my Angel, Midsnow!”

Blazespirit blinked. “Your Angel?”

“Yep! Shi’s amazing, shi’s my teacher.” Misty smiled happily.

Starpelt shook hir head. “I wonder if you will ever grow out of calling hir that.”

“Nope!” Mistdancer laughed and then poked Blazespirit on the nose. “Tag you’re it!” With that shi took off.

Blaze and Nova looked at each other for a moment, they weren’t familiar with this game but the gist was easy to get. They took off after Mistdancer laughing.


There were lots of hardships and adjustments for the new cubs in Starpelt’s family. The first time Mistdancer insisted on taking them over to the Cat’s Eye pub they Bit Midsnow’s tail as a Joke and Nova’s static left Midsnow’s fur all fluffed out. Then Nova did the same thing to poor young Colorpot. Blazespirit accidentally sneezed at home and burned Krano and Starpelt’s work uniforms and badges. And when Misty turned hir back Nova used hir mother’s punching bag as a scratching post.

There came a day that left both cubs a bit confused. Starpelt told the family that shi was pregnant with Krano’s cub. And everyone seemed happy so Blaze and Nova just went along with it.

Six months after the announcement that there would be a new cub in the family Blaze, Misty and Nova were sitting around watching Cartoons. Blaze was actually dozing off a bit.

Misty looked over and smiled. “You know if your sister keeps falling asleep I’m going to think shi doesn’t like this cartoon.”

Nova giggled. “Oh shi likes it but shi wore hirself out in that game of tag earlier….don’t worry I know how to wake hir up.” Nova gave a very mischievous grin

Misty knew that meant trouble. “Nova….Nova don’t do anything to your sister.”

“Oh shi’ll be fine.” Nova got a feather out of one of the pillows and moved to tickle hir sister’s nose.

Blaze’s nose scrunched up for a moment. Trying to fight to hold in the sneeze. But that was a losing fight. When shi sneezed this time though shi didn’t let out a small puff of fire or a ring of fiery smoke. Now this was a full stream of Atomic fire that hit the Vid screen and turned it to slag. Poor Blaze went rocketing backwards into a cabinet and with a crash it came down on top of hir.

“BLAZE!” Starpelt cried coming into the room wide eyed.

“It’s okay daddy I caught it!” Misty said with a strained voice. Hir eyes closed. Shi’d caught it inches from Blaze.

Starpelt pulled Blaze out from under the cabinet and Krano and Wildheart got it upright again with Misty’s help. Starpelt was meanwhile checking Blaze for injuries. “Blaze are you okay!? Are you hurt?”

Blaze was shocked by the genuine concern for hir in Starpelt’s voice. “Yeah...I’m okay. I just sneezed...I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Shi hugged Blaze tight.

Nova came over with hir ears lowered. “I tickled Blaze’s nose trying to wake hir up…” Shi had that defensive look expecting to be punished.

Instead Starpelt pulled Nova into the hug. “I’m just glad you’re both okay.” Starpelt whispered.

Blaze sniffled. “Why are you so worried….we’re not your cubs...You’re just looking after us for the lab.”

Starpelt looked shocked at those words. “Blazespirit….Starnova...is that what you think?”

When they nodded she hugged them tighter. Starnova huffed. “It’s fine I’m strong I can look out for myself!”

“Neither of you need to do that though.” Starpelt said. “Listen to me carefully. We are not giving you back to that lab. You are our cubs...And no one is taking you away.” Shi whispered. Letting them feel just how much shi’d come to love the two Kaiju cubs. Starpelt was a strong enough of an Empath that shi could even let the tiny Mil feel just how much shi loved hir.

Nova gasped as she felt that love wash over hir and even the strong, ferocious little ‘mil cub couldn’t stop the teams from rolling down hir cheeks as shi realized that they were loved, that they had a home. It overwhelmed both cubs, “Why would you take us in...why would you love us? We’re...we’re…”

“You’re two cute adorable cubs who need love and support to grow up, even you my feisty little chakamil.” Starpelt said stroking Nova’s fur. “You’re both unique and amazing and we all love you.”

Krano came over and settled next to his mate. The huge Wolftaur stroking both cubs on their ears. He smiled. “We were going to wait till dinner to tell you two this...But Starpelt and I talked this over and we want to adopt you.”

Neither cub could believe what they just heard. They stared up at the adults as if they’d spoken another language before they both excitedly hugged them tight. Crying and laughing at the same time.



Four Months later……




Starnova and Blazespirit stood among all of their new family. Everyone gathered for the birth of Starpelt’s cub. Krano was there holding Starpelt while Wildheart was there supporting them both. Mistdancer was nestled against Midsnow who brought hir family to witness the birth. Starnova was watching curiously. Shi and Blaze were born in a lab so this was the first time shi’d seen a birthing party. Feeling all this love in the air it was hard not to be excited. Especially since hir little sister was being born. Nova had so many plans for hir baby sister. Shi was going to teach hir some of hir best pranks and take hir on lots of adventures. Nova didn’t notice in hir excitement that shi was floating a few inches off the ground.

When the cub was born shi had black fur with a patch of white over one eye. Shi gave hir first cry and it turned into a little howl at the end. Starpelt gave a tired smile. “I know just what to call you little one. Darkhowl…”


Blaze smiled at hir sister. “Shi’s perfect huh sis?”

Nova grinned. “Maybe….but when I’m done with hir shi will be.” Shi than giggled which made Blaze giggle. Both of them happy.
