One thing Tapha learned (the hard way) about magic is that it can respond to your emotions. For example, anger can help strengthen a spell you cast. Now, if you're still learning to CONTROL your magical powers, the last thing you want to do is get angry while not being cognizant of your abilities. This could lead to them firing off involuntarily at whatever object (or person) that was the focus of your anger.

So... as frustrating as smartphones can be sometimes, try not to get TOO upset at them. After all, unless it was a Galaxy Note 7, you can't really explain why your phone spontaneously combusted.
