It is Sharkweek! For the occasion, I decided to reexplore a theme I had worked on years ago for a trade with Ageaus where a swimmer gets caught by sirens. He tries to escape them, but it seems like they are actually letting him go..
The sea creatures have more than one trick in their bag for him, and the closer he gets to the shore and the more he thinks he might actually find safety on the hot sand, the more he starts turning into a creature which isn't supposed to ever leave the sea.. soon making it impossible for him to escape the water, and thus the sirens waiting for him, laughing and waving at the terrified, poor soul they're tormenting.
Putting here the sonnet I had written for the original picture (which was featuring only one siren).

The Siren's Creek
Along the coast, down the cliffs,
Behind the pines, hidden from skiffs,
One says there is a creek
Where water stands clear and static.
In this remote place lives a creature
Whose home lies beneath the surface;
But in spite of her pleasant face,
Mischief and deceit are her real nature.
Nothing brings her more joy
Than playing with a man like her toy,
As no one leaves her domain unchanged.
Her kiss leaves humans meek,
Charmed by her voice, unable to resist,
And even if they awake, scared and weak,
No one ever returns from the Siren’s creek.===
