It can be more than just a dream. You just have to know people. You could be hearing my voice in video games and television adds, as I once knew a person who wanted me to do voice overs professionally. I chose not to because I didn't want to just be known for my deep voice back then...Man am I an idiot...
If you want to feel a little famous, I was offered to be the voice over for the Miller Light Commercials, but I turned it down.

I wish I did know people. I've known a few people who said they know people who could give me the hook-up but they never follow up on that. The closest chance I think I have is interning at Turner down here in GA.
And that would've been cool if you did voice acting. You know how many ladies would be flocking up to your door? And I could go like, "Hey, I know that guy!" every time I see or hear the commercial. If you ever get another chance, I'm sure you'll make the right choice, right?

The EA Sports (video game company) was right up the street at my last job. A lot of the employees, especially those with pets (I worked at a pet supply store), would come in all the time. I'm sure it wouldn't have been too difficult to talk them into at least touring the facilities. Who knows what would have happened there.
Of course. I would take the job in an instant. I was a teenager then and didn't know what "roylties" were. Apparently voice actors get paid everytime the commercial they acted in, airs. That's basically like a steady income for about a year before the next product comes out. *sigh* Steady income, for just talking into a microphone for a few minutes. It wasn't even a movie, just a short commercial...what the hell was wrong with me?

No one can really completely blame you. At the time, there's only so many things on a teen's mind and I would assume there was no one there to tell you what would be in store if you actually went through with it.
It may not be too late to get your voice out there. There is a site called Voice123.com where you just check what kind of voice work you'd like to do, record a sample/demo reel, and wait for the producers to come to you. It sounds pretty effective if you're willing to put in the work.

Strange enough, I don't hear much people raving about BET anymore. Then again, I don't hang out with other black people too often anyway. And the ones I do hang out with don't support the stereotype (thank god).

I don't like perpetuating the stereotype either, which is looked down upon by my "peers". Apparently, seeing how I don't listen to rap music, watch BET, or anything that Tylor Perry does, speak like I dropped out of kindergarden, and don't ALWAYS vote Democratic...then I must be a sell out. I'll be a sell out if that means I have to present myself like I wasn't raised by Monique and Flava Flav...
I could have sworn there was a real Soul Plane 2. I'm too scared to check and confirm it though.
