I kept on forgetting to get a picture of this up here. So this morning I took it out, shot it, and problem solved. See how awesome it is at that?
The only problem with these is the ammunition: it's expensive. I've gotten around this by loading my own, but unfortunately the dies, primers, bullets, and case prep tools are all also expensive. But hey, it's fun to shoot, accurate, powerful, and a head-turner at the range.
This one's been fitted with:
Leupold ER/T 8-25x50
Nightforce Ultralight 20 MOA extra high base
U.S. Optics Anti-Cant level (sticks off the other side of the scope)
Versa-Pod Model 50 5-7" (modified to mount on the shorter bipod stud)
I also have the original bipod, but it doesn't work so well for shooting from a tall bench.
Note: This was intended as an artistic shot, which considering all the pictures of buildings and cars, seems perfectly fine. Also, the bipod was modified heavily to fit, it's not just parts stuck together.

For a .50, it's not particularly accurate, but the M107 did see some improvements in that department. Because of the recoiling barrel and other moving parts, which help absorb more recoil, the rifle's not extremely accurate, but it'll still outshoot most smaller caliber rifles at the ranges it's capable of shooting at. This one might be a single shot, but it's certainly more accurate, sporing a heavy hammer-forged step-tapered and fluted chromoly barrel, a match throat, not having a COAL limiting magazine, and not having anything move when it's fired.
The M82A1 is good for maybe 1 MOA inside 500 yards. With regular M33 FMJ surplus ball ammunition, I've gotten five shots inside a 1" hole at 300 yards, and it'll do better than that with good processed brass loaded with copper solids and a carefully measured charge of powder. And that's with me shooting off of a bipod with my thick, stupid glasses, too.
Thanks. It took a couple shots to get something I was happy with. And yeah, I got a bunch of spotter-tracer projectiles cheap a while ago, so I've been resizing those to reload over a reduced powder load, and it makes for cheaper shooting. Only about a buck to load a round, and they make an awesome pop, flash, and cloud of smoke when they hit.
The rifle I got for the low, low price of $3,500, I think it was, came with the packing crate and bipod, in unfired condition, as a trade in at a local Gander Mtn. The scope I got on the internet somewhere, a Leupold ER/T 8.5-25x50, that was about $1,400. It's a 20MOA Nightforce base, that was another $230 or so. The bipod here is a modified Versa-Pod, which is lower and easier to shoot from a bench than the tall factory standard bipod, that was another $60, I think, and then I had to change a few things on it to get it to lock onto the shorter Steyr bipod lug.
Very true. I've have lots of problems with viruses on my old computer in addition to a bunch of other shit. The thing barely works, but I think that if I install .223 or 7.62 antivirus, that should take care of the viruses and all of the other problems as well.
What? Now how can you have too much ammo? It seems to me like too much is never enough.

Surprisingly, with the muzzle brake on here, there's really not that much recoil. There seems to be just as much of a push from the escaping gasses as from the rifle itself. The Steyr brake has airfoils on the baffles, and actually creates a little lift to pull the rifle forwards, too. Though it's a little big and unweildy to fire from the hip, and I'd hate to waste ammo, since almost every round is a handloaded in brass with a uniformed pocket, angled deburred flash hole, neck turned and trimmed to .001", filled with precisely weighted powder charges to the nearest .1 grain, and carefully seated, lightly crimped bullets. My ammo is loaded with love, and dare I say it, but I'd count that as art.
I reload my own, so it's less than that. I got a good deal on some Mk 48 Mod 1 Spotter/Tracer rounds, so I can manage about $1/round for a reduced-recoil round with a heavy, bright tracing round with a smokey impact. Shot a few of those into a 55 gallon steel drum, there were nice 1/2" entry holes, and a bunch of smaller holes in the back from the bullet fragmenting violently.
Oh, and I don't bother loading regular M33 FMJ lead core bullets too often. I bought a bunch of M48A1 Spotter-Tracers some time ago, so I tend to load a lot of those, too. And then shoot them.
Indeed! Also works well clearing snow off benches and evaporating a jumbo-sized can of pasta, courtesy of lupislupine.
