What I love most is that the first contact with Anime that many, many kids and lots of my friends had in the nineties was a screening of Akira. Because not only parents in VHS rentals, but a whole friggin TV NETWORK didn't realize that this wasn't, in fact, a cartoon for kids. I remember the faces full of joy and horror as they saw the intro...
