that is, i think is the main problem with light recon, windows. If there a way to create a windowless protected occupants recon vehicle i think that would be better. The age of giant land based armies is dead until the nation states bring out the heavy stuff. so until then i think a redesign on the basic placement and how soldiers are protected til they get to the battle
IED's and rpg/mortar traps are the modern day bushwack, or drygulch. not to help a cause, only to create insurgency. So since the problem is with tageting a solidier inside the vehicle and wound not kill as the whole point thats why they use ball bearings and nails for fragmentation..
So design as well as additional maaterials would be needed for the next design. I would say like a cargo van but no one sits up until they get out, Like the Swedish 'S' tank of the 70's, in concept.

Well...you could ofcourse utilize some sort of periscope system like most modern tanks do...but it's sorta hard to navigate with that when you're driving with more than 50 Mph...
Most other races utilize fully encased visual systems that are either aided with a HUD-connection or an inside visual system...a friend of mine told me though that Neon Genesis was utilizing something like that already...ah well...whatever XD

but if its a light recon vehicle, it should perhaps be smaller... maybe take away the trunk and move over the rear set wheel closer. - just a thought. perhaps simply a two/three passenger vehicle. Something like a VBL. Windows look great - i must say...

Depends...it's not really light...it's more based of vehicles like the "Fennec" or the "Dingo" if you know them
