I messed this up pretty badly the first time so I called a "do over."
Someone recently mentioned "toning" to me in reference to comic art and I told them I had no idea what they meant. Well, some research and a little practice later and I did this.
Maybe I can do toning if I really have to.
Why a light sabre you ask? Wouldn't you have one if you could?
The thing that perplexes me is the strange similarity to a Calvin Klein ad.

Firstly, give me my water back and stop it.
Second, it's white only because the image is greyscale and never had any colour in it. COme to think of it though, a white lightsaber is an interesting concept. Kinda colour balanced. Cuz, like, white light has all colours in it. Maybe the new Jedi order (post Luke Skywalker) should all carry white lightsabres?

Well, in greyscale, it looks kinda white.
heh. Doing this pic reminded me of my brother and my hours of training for a lightsabre duel we choreographed for a fan movie he wanted to do. About three weeks worth of choreography, about two of training and then the project got shelved. You have to love when life intrudes.

Well, this took a while to find, but I stumbled across this a few days ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Jedi. Look at the bottom of the page to read about Grey Jedi, they basically stand in between to two extremes of Sith and Jedi. I thought it might be interesting to you.
Interesting. This sounds similar to the old alignment paradigm from D&D as disputed by Palladium Books. In D&D, your alignment can be lawful, neutral or chaotic, with a secondary alignment attribute of good, neutral or evil. In reality, there is no such thing as neutrality. Palladium had things split between good, selfish and evil. Whereas the Jedi are good and the Sith are evil, the dark jedi are just selfish. Good concept.
One of the things I noticed is that although the Sith are evil, the still have a strict philosophy like the Jedi, and some even focus on the good of society as a whole (in a very ruthless way. The Grey Jedi seem to place emphasis on balance, logic, and personal freedom, including the freedom to deal with the consequences of your own actions. I tend to think of it as the Jedi, Sith and Grey Jedi all following complex spiritual philosophies, while the Dark Jedi are just force sensitive thugs.
As an interesting note, in the first Knights of the Old Republic, the Sith are a savage, chaotic organization where advancement only takes place trough assassination, and Darth Malek (their ruler and main antagonist) is the worst of them all. This was all before the Rule of Two was made, which helped turn the Sith into a true philosophy. It's also interesting to note that Maleks master and predesesor, Darth Revan, avoided attack industrial and economic centers, intending to use these to rebuild the galaxy after the war, while Malek justed attacked everything.

The beauty of the philosophy of war is that true war is always passed down from master to student and the student's imperfect grasp of the campaign process is almost always what ends the war. Eventually, a war campaign will almost inevitably fall into the hands of someone who wars for war's own sake and he is defeated by his over-reaching.
Over-Extension. It's what ultimately fell the Macedonians, the Romans, the Mongols and many other empires. Destroying the infrastructure of the conquered areas doesn't help.
As an example of how out of control Malek was, early in the game he glasses the entire surface of a major economic world because he loses his temper.
