I’ve gone through a lot in the past couple of years… I’ve been hitting a point where my candle has begun to burn low. And when I look to the future, all I can really see is a wall of flame. I have a lot of hot spots ahead, a lot of pain to work through, and a rough trail to walk in spite of metaphorical and actual injuries.

I just hope that I walk out of the ashes as brilliantly as a phoenix.

Feather fans have been used for a variety of things throughout history, by many different cultures. They were used in everything from a wardrobe accessory by some, to healing rituals by others. This one is… basically, art therapy.

Styles vary greatly, but this one is designed to be more like a smudging fan, with a stylized phoenix painted on the feathers. Instead of the normal solid border that I’ve been using on my prayer feathers, I used a tribalesque 'smoke' design, which I also used on the handle, since I couldn’t use the repeating shapes I’d been doing along the feather’s shaft. It was too big to fit onto the scanner, so I had to scan the bottom of the handle to put up there separately.

Anywho… Oi. I'd origionally sketched the ideas out at the beginning of the summer on a flight back home. Took me way too long to finish it. Thanks for looking, I hope ya like it.
