Dennis O'Rourke (1939-2006) was a member of the Rain Island / Spontoon / Tillamook combined World Cup team for their so far only appearance at the quadrennial tournament. On the roster as a defender, O'Rourke achieved a measure of notoriety for what became known as The Foul Foul when he sprayed an Italian player as the rabbit was driving toward the goal. His actions also led to FIFA instituting a rule barring furs that are capable of spraying from doing so, on pain of an immediate red card, fine and suspension from club play for a year.
O'Rourke was a native of Rain Island, born in the city of Port Vancouver, and joined the Mexican Liga side America in 1959. After being sent off in London in 1966, O'Rourke was greeted by his family and friends as if he had scored a goal, but never played football professionally again. He became an insurance agent, and died in 2006 at age 67 of a heart attack.
