Weirdly enough, my favorite part of this pic is that fox's face. So damn smug. It's almost like he's happy that the dragon's crying from all the tickles!
I wonder how they caught this one. And what they plan to do with him after target practice. Their weapons don't seem to have much of an effect on him! Even the softer scales resist those sharp tips. He might try to escape at some point.

Can't be too hard, the sky is completely open above him for him to fly out. He just needs to open a teensy bit to breath a couple flames and burn the whole structure down. If he can't, it's just because he's not trying hard enough.
Those archers better not hit the ropes by mistake, either, or they'll give him enough pull to break the rest. But I guess it's not too worrisome. I recognize one of the best archers of all time among them. This group must win a ton of archery competitions, with such great teachers and practice tools!

Bah, if you want to hunt dragons you bring an 88mm... primitive pansies! Then again this is an adorable take on the usual dragon capture. Really what amazes me is that one was caught at all. Those ropes definitely do not look strong enough to hold such a big beast! Never was a fan of dewclaws, damn useless evolutionary nubs! But his face at least is cute enough!
I'm also fairly certain the softer areas of his body are just leathery skin, hardened scales do not lend themselves well at all to flexing. I must state too as interesting as those wings are I personally prefer the more classical western dragon-style wings. Simply bigger and more intimidating!
Draco from Dragonheart comes to mind as a design of dragon that always appealed to me. Plus that one is basically Sean Connery if he had a dragon sona so... hard not to fall in love with that! :P anyway, nice looking reds and the softer hues are cute.
Now we just need an image of a tied-up derg being used to power a steam-locomotive through podocentric stimulation and we can begin moving towards the future! Perhaps the drakes will form a union against dragon foot-torments... xD

Just be careful where you tread with those huge feet!

Oh wow, such a creative idea! I have a lot to compliment with this one! I still love your art style, everything from the shading to the shapes all look so clean. And goodness gracious, the meatiness of those dragon feet is phenominal, they look SO large and squishy~
And on top of all that, the idea of tough skin literally being tickled by arrowheads is a really adorable thought, and those toes being held back nice and firm to allow the huge feet to be used as targets is wonderful as well~
Finally, the actual design! I dunno what it is in your art that brings out my sense of attention to detail, but I really like the dragon's design. There's a lot of your tried and true dragon design elements, but the transparency of the wings-kin fiber, and all of that running across the shoulders and tail look super cool! And the wings almost looking like hands is a really neat design as well!
This makes me remember that blue dragon locked in a cage and tickled too, I ADORE any time you tickle large creatures, you always put them in such fun interesting scenarios!
I'm rambling at this point, and it's a giant chunk of text, but you really are one of my favorite artists for this kind of stuff, everything just looks so clean and appealing to look at beyond the tickly aspect of things. Awesome work~ xP

There is a point where the core premise is down and I can just spend time focusing on the design aspects and fine details. I tend to have a lot of ideas and little touches for each picture and sometimes I get new ones as I go!
The golden rule is that if I like it, then its going in, even if its a huge set back to the completion date whether it be adding entire characters to help with world building or drawing backgrounds which are often omitted from most art scenes.
The spines running from his shoulders to his tail were inspired by the bumps on a crocodiles back while the wings are like that of a bat and having larger creatures tormented helplessly requires a little extra imagination to work convincingly.
This leads to carefully planning a pictures composition so there is no need to use cheep robot hands or floating feathers. A personal pet peeve of mine... Now I'm the one rambling... I suppose there's a lot to talk about

No by all mean, continue if you'd like to! I really do like listening to the thought process that goes into this stuff, especially from an artist I enjoy quite a bit, rambling is great~
It helps me in my own art even. Like with the premise, I usually just start with it, and stick through with it. I don't normally get a whole lot of new details into the drawing once i've started it, I draw with a bit of a one-track mind.
Something admirable about any artist is when fine details are put into the background, be it extra set pieces or more tiny things that add to the feel of a picture. Like just from looking at your recent pictures, stuff like extra machinery or a tall book case bundled with tons of books. It adds time on, and sometimes I find myself wanting the background to just be finished, but it tends to be worth it!
And I figured it was something like that, and never the less it all comes together to form a certainly different looking dragon design. Obviously, i'm drawn to the huge adorable feet, but regardless~
And that extra bit of effort you need to put in to convincingly tickle the cute bigger guys, makes this kind of stuff all the more fun I think.
I do hope it's not looking like too much to almost be responding to all the points, but floating feathers and robot hands, vines, so on and so forth are a bit of a peeve of mine too. I try my best not to use those on top of your typical stocks, going for slightly different scenes. I'll slip into using vine-like lengths and ghost hands and the sort, but i'll only ever do if if I have a convincing enough reason to do so, if I am at least convincing myself.

You do things your way if thats what works.
These extra details and easter eggs I add in are simply part of my own self imposed standards. If people do become inspired by it then thats a nice bonus on top.
Personally I hate drawing most backgrounds and I'm not alone in that thought but I just have to remember that 100s of people might be enjoying a picture and collectively for a much longer time then I spend putting the work in to it (in some cases anyway). Its great to hear feedback on a picture I did years ago thats still a fav in peoples collections so ultimately its worth the extra work in the long run.
I got nothing against your point by point responses. I'm happy to answer what I can in a short, concise manor so that there's some interaction between me and my commenters.

Backgrounds can be a pain for sure, if i'm not really feeling it with a picture. I'll usually go through with it anyway, but a lot of times I simplify it more than I really should. Like if I have the scene against a wall or something, I could throw in subtle texture or different things to make it more visually interesting, but I admit sometimes I get lazy about it. But it's very good to have your own standards set in what you want to have put into a picture. And I could easily go back in your gallery and take a look at some older pictures, and give them some favorites. They still look really great, even five years back~
I imagine this dragon must have been very overconfident and reckless in the first place to get himself captured like this, so I imagine he might have been boasting about the pesky arrows doing nothing more than tickling him, not realising that he'd only be giving the lowly mammals ideas....
I would not have imagined that dragon skins would be that tough on the soles! (Hands, even!)
Guess really, that episode of Jane & the Dragon was true- if the weapon is not like a dragonslayer's sword, it just tickles the dragon!
(If you ever want to see that episode, look for the title, "The Last of the Dragonslayers.")

What a gorgeous dragon, no wonder some see his paws as an appealing 'target'. I envy that wolf, that must have been a treat to paint the dragon's soles; I couldn't resist also trying those arrow fletchings out on them if I were him.
Wait, are you saying he's been around a while? Then why is the paint fresh? Does the wolf refresh it now and then, or maybe they were doing something else? Anyway, they shouldn't keep the dragon all to themselves, I think a big ticklish beast like him would be more than welcome at any fair. ;)

Carting him around would be a lot of work but the towns folk need entertainment to keep their minds off other matters.
Perhaps they could be allowed into the castle walls for a small fee to safely see a beast up close. Maybe even touch it!
The paint would need a new coat every hour or so. Having paint dry on a flexing, shaking surface would probably cause flaking and thats without the arrows slowly chipping away at it!

Its easy when you know how.
A net over a cave entrance, putting sleep toxin into the near by drinking hole, even a simple luring into a trap with the potent smell of fresh meat or perhaps even picking an injured one up after losing a mid air scrap with another dragon. Little things like that!

That would teach the dragon a lesson for his carelessness. However I hope they only aim to his soles, not to hurt his eyes.Dragons have no hard scales to protect some weak points.
And I just found an interesting detail didnt notice before. The claws on his toes have been filed.
you did a good job as usual!
Amazing work! He looks like a great target to test some Chu Ko Nu later on. Those might even be enough to make him break his muzzle.
Also love the idea of capturing him weakened after fight, let him trash wildly during roping. Gives him that small spark of hope dimming slowly as he gets more and more immobile and helpless.
