I've started using a program called "Drawpile," which has honestly been a blast. I've met a couple of people there, and normally go under the name "Cannon Fodder." I really like the responsiveness, so I felt it would be fun to try out some designs using it.
This guys is just a standard trooper, with the idea of him being a little like a peacekeeping force (which is why he doesn't have a rucksack, and is more heavily armored). He has a pretty standard rig, with a couple of ammo pouches, a butt bag, and an E-tool (based off of the old wooden ones with only one joint). His fire arm is just a small hand gun, almost like a mix of a grease gun and something like a 1911. Like an uzi, but not as cool, and definitely not as fast. His uniform is pretty standard, and he only has one kill-stripe, meaning he's probably killed/wounded 10-99 people, as they increase exponentially with each increasing stripe. Considering his job, it's probably closer to the former. In this case he's been shot with a pretty high powered round, pushing him back, and probably about to knock him down. Considering he already had his hand on the trigger, and his posture, he probably just noticed the assailant before being taken out. I doubt this will kill him immediately, but it's very easily going to make his life painful, or short. Although, as he doesn't have a tail, that would normally imply he either worked as a heavy machine gunner in the past, or was just plain unlucky in combat. Considering his low kill-stripe though, i'm going more towards him being unlucky.
Drawing wise, I'm trying to develop more of a grey scaled style of coloration, as after reading Albedo Anthropomorphics and a couple of Furlough mags, I've grown kind of fond of it. I also wanted to work with a more dynamic posture, this the angle is a looking down on him a little. A feel like a background would probably help the piece a little more, but i'm still quite content with it none the less.
