You may notice, this is extremely different from most of my previous work. There is a reason.
I wanted to do something different. Do something that would push me out of my comfort zone some. I feel like, over the years, I have developed a feel for Screentone. Developed a feel for being able to work with it naturally and instinctively. It made me feel like I was almost cheating.
For that reason I set out to work on this piece. The idea was to do a greyscale b&w work that did not use any form of Screentone. This is the result.
Originally I had not intended to let her hair spill out over the frame, but when my wife saw the original sketch, she liked it. Afterward I started working on two versions, one with hair out, and one with hair cut at the edge of the frame. It did not take very long for me to switch to just work on the version you see here.
For the record, there are 92 squares, in whole or in part, displayed.
As usual, questions, comments, other considerations are more than welcome. Thank you.
