Unfashionably late seems to be a trend with me these days due to how freakin' busy life has been. 'XD BUT, at long last, here is my very belated birthday gift to one of my favorite people on this site,

And it also happens to be my very first venture into sprite animation. How well it fares is ANYONE'S guess, buuuuut hopefully, it's not TOO crudely pieced together. :P
This sprite gif loop features Rchlis' lovable imp, Puck, snuggling comfortably against the equally lovable and twice as dopey Torro's big round tummy, using it as a soft, chubby mattress. Unfortunately for Puck, getting some shut eye MIGHT be a tad difficult with how full Torro is.
I hope everyone enjoys it! :)

For your first attempt at making a sprite animation, this came out pretty good! The animation is actually very smooth for the most part, especially when Torro burps. That subtle shift in facial expressions is very nice, which is even more impressive when you’re doing it with that toothy rictus.
I think subtlety is the key word here, since there are so many tiny details slipped in here that make the whole animation even better. Like lil’ Puck getting woken up and grimacing in response to the loud interruption, the bulge that moves up Torro’s throat before he belches, his jiggling gut, even that bird getting scared off in the background. XD I think my personal favorite part is that adorable ear twitch while Torro sleeps. And that slow, surprised blink when he accidentally wakes himself up.
Thank you so much for the gift! I’d say it was well worth the wait.

Aww, thank you very much! Glad to hear you liked it, especially considering my original plan kinda went to hell in a hurry. 'XD. But you're very welcome! Honestly, it's kinda amazing how subtle shifts can make Torro so expressive. It's simple but it makes him real fun to draw, mainly because his skull-like mouth makes his dopier moments that much dopier. XD
Funny thing is, the bird was mainly to express how loud Torro's burp was since, my attempt to shake the entire frame ended in outta frame disaster, haha! So it's a relief to hear the other touches accommodated. I knew I had to add some adorable moments like that for added d'awws AND added lolz. :P
Happy belated birthday, once again! Now, I just need to work on being timelier with everything else I'm juggling. 'XD

Hehe, I’m pretty happy you decided to go for the bird flying instead of everything shaking. It let’s us get a better look at the smaller details like lil’ Puck’s expression and dat belly jiggling like jelly. XD

And that's a good point. The jiggly tummy part was definitely my favorite part, and probably the smoothest part of the animation. Glad Puck's facial expressions worked too because that was probably the trickiest part given how freakin' TINY the adorable lil fella was on an already tiny canvas. 'XD

That it certainly did. :) And although you keep saying the first attempt was a mess, I am admittedly curious about what it was...because I am a nosy owl. XP
Haha, I’d say you managed to get the expressions across pretty successfully despite the size. I can tell the difference between dat lil’ smile, the curious eyes looking up, and of course, the grimace with the squenched up features.

Well, in a nutshell, the first attempt was a series of one-off pictures of Aenas and Aveon during various parts of their meetings. One was Aenas relaxing and rubbing Aveon's head while the fluff baby was sleeping, curled up around Aenas and resting his head atop his lap, smiling happily. Another was Aveon crying into a battered Aenas' chest, who would be shirtless, sans a series of bandages wrapped around him from their battle with Brugo, and Aenas smiling and hugging the dragons' neck in an assuring manner. Then, of course, there was one of Aenas facepalming while a bloated Aveon whimpered about his tummy hurting...aaaand the final one would've been Aenas and Aveon about to square off against Itzal, whose hand would be outstretched, about to summon his shadows.
Unfortunately, it didn't take long for me to realize, I could NOT draw Aveon's face whatsoever without it looking REALLY weird. For whatever reason, I just COULD NOT get the shape right. 'XD
And thanks! I'm glad those ended up translating well for you! I STILL have to work on my actual line work for the program, but that's what practice is for, right? XP All that matters is that you enjoyed it! ^^
