i like the animation better than the last one, granted it was fun to watch

He has a nice design, showing off his roll as the muscle and brawler of the group. Tho why they made him the leader in this series I have no idea. The animation style will take some getting used to since I was a big fan of the previous cgi version, heck old Raph was hot. Also why do I get the feeling we'll be getting some art of the turtles and that bad guy who gazed at them with hearts in his eyes.

well its just a matter of waiting right now, i think the show have a lot of potential and the animation is great, the only thing i would improve is the interaction between the characters and give then some background

Well they did kinda break the TMNT formula by having the turtles and April friends right out of the gate, instead of the first episode being the standard turtles meet April when they go up on the surface for the first time. Also Splinter being portrayed as being a lazy slob just doesn't fit, yes he's old but he's honorable and well disciplined after years of his ninja training and raising four sons on his own. Normally Splinter is a DILF but here he's not that attractive anymore...

well as you said they wanted to do something different and hopefully characters could improve in the future, only time will tell

I think he's the leader because he seems like a decent tactician. Leonardo seems to be taking on a motivational speaker role, even as the "rebel." Donatello seems like a slightly pessimistic realist. Michelangelo has his dorky child nature, but he has moments of clear rational thinking.

I may be wrong but I remember an episode or more than one from the 80's seires in which the turtles were exposed to another mutagen and gain the ability to turn into a sort of Hulk like turtles.
Your pic reminded me of that
