Masao is the eldest of the Handasse brothers, and definitely the most mature. However, circumstances in his life left him guarded and difficult to read. Once past that, though, one can find an intelligent kin with a love of art and nature.

Masao was very close to his aunt growing up, fascinated by all the stories she would tell him. When she was executed for having a child with a commonborn airkin, his grief manifested as anger and a tendency to lash out. Almost as soon as he was of proper age, Masao entered the coliseum as a way to let out his aggression. He quickly became noteworthy for his unique and unprecedented fighting styles.
