Don't worry, I'm the same way. Have you tried using oils? I love oils because they blend so much better than acrylics and I hate how acrylics come out looking so dull (they do for me, anyway lol). I only use water-mixable oils with water-mixable linseed oil, they are sooo much nicer to use than acrylics and the colour stays quite strong...probably because it takes forever to dry xD
