This is one of the bigger marker works Ive done this fall. Inspired by Linkin Parks song, "Little things give you away".
She followed him, all the way from the park to the abandoned part of the city, where he was going to spend his night. He knew that she was following him, but he had hoped that she would turn away if he walked long enough.
But no.
Finally, he sat down on an old bus stop, and sighed. She came right in front of him, looking up to him as if waiting for something. Hae looked at the Zexre, and gave her a half-smile.
"Hey come on, you should go back home. There's no use in following me."
She didnt seem to get it, just stared at him, and blinked.
"Look at you, you've got a collar and everything. I bet there's someone waiting for you." Hae looked at the yin-yang-shaped name tag. "...Rin. Go home. Home, get it? There's someone who's probably worried about you by now."
Rin just rubbed her nose against Hae's knee, her dark-gray fur shimmering in the light of the setting sun. After a while of pointless trying, Hae picked up the Zexre, carried it a bit away and then turned his back to it. When he started walking away, he heard the sound of paws coming after him. That was too much. He quickly turned around, and nearly screamed, "DONT YOU GET IT, DAMMIT!???!? GO HOME!!!! GO!! AT LEAST YOU'VE GOT SOMEONE THERE WHO TAKES CARE OF YOU!!!!!"
The Zexre stood there frozen for a while, ears lowered. Then, she turned away and sprinted down the road. Hae followed it with his eyes, until it disappeared behind the old buildings. He couldnt help it, tears were already falling down on his cheeks.
"Someone... who takes... care of you...d-damn..it..."
...Then, he just straightened his back and kept on walking like nothing had happened, but still, something sparkly lingered on his cheek.
