The Archon, or Archoness if female, is the leader of the Verrisir Stellar Confederacy. The Archoness is the head of state and head of government and functions similar to that of the Japanese shoguns and our American president. The thing is this: the Stellar Confederacy is a quasi-theocratic benevolent military dictatorship. In the Stellar Confederacy, there is no such thing as separation of church and state (and the military). Veterans and even currently enlisted military personnel are eligible to be elected to position of Archon, and even members of the priesthood can become Archons as well. Contrary to what you may think, non-Verrisirs can be Archons. In fact, the previous Archon before Archoness Mehla Alurita d'Mimre was elected was not a Verrisir. Archons usually serve ten year terms, but there is no limit to how many times they can be reelected. Usually, an Archon leaves office either through retirement from the political arena or dies in office.

The outfit that Mehla is wearing was inspired by one of the outfits worn by alien foxes from Silfae's Dimorphism Fox Portrait Mod and the outfit worn by  fluff-kevlar's Zeta.

Mehla was also the first leader I started off with when I started playing Stellaris.
