Vampire Connection
Hope
Even though Lora planned on telling Nicholas how she felt about him, something that happened the next day distracted her. The whole group found out from Ellie at breakfast. “Really?” Naomi asked. “A volleyball tournament?”
“Yeah,” the spirit fox female replied. “I competed in it last year when I came here. It’s a local thing that anyone can compete in. It’ll start after lunch and I found it to be a lot of fun.”
“Well no trip to the beach wouldn’t be complete without doing that,” Nicholas stated and stood up from the table. “Count me in for sure!”
The male vampire was so far it, the rest of the guys couldn’t help but wanting to do it as well. Ellie and Danny were one pairing as the other females did with the males. Lora on the other hand wasn’t so sure and Nicholas noticed this. He found her a bit later in the hallway. “You’re not going to compete?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” the female vampire replied. “I mean, I haven’t done it before. I’ve always watched it.”
“True, but we did that course last school year. In the sand it’s tougher, but the rules should still be the same. And besides, it should be fun…” The guy rubbed the back of his neck. “Well… nobody is going to force you to do so if you don’t want to. And I most certainly won’t even if I was hopping you’d be my partner…”
Lora looked up to Nicholas, her heart thudding as he turned around to walk away. “Well… I hope you watch at least.”
“I don’t think I can watch if I’m not with you in the stands and you’re partnered with someone else but me,” she answered back, causing the male to stop and his heart to race.
“If that’s the case…” Nicholas said slowly and then turned to face her. “Will you partner with me Lora?”
“Yes…” the female replied. The two teens got the stupidest of grins on their faces and their eyes were closed in this happy moment.
Later that afternoon, the contestants were all assembled on the volleyball fields. Lora and Nicholas were ready for this with her nervous, but excited. The male was willing to win, but also have fun. Soon everyone was divided up. Although the two vampires had to go against their friends, that didn’t stop them at all. And through a combination of determination and effort, the two managed a narrow win. When Lora heard that she and Nicholas had won, the female couldn’t believe it. Among the cheering and applauding of those watching, she saw Nicholas after taking a deep breath approach and hug her warmly. “We won!” he stated into her ear.
“Yes…” Lora was about to pull back and tell him but was interrupted by the rest of their friends who hosted them to the place where the trophy was given to the winning pair.
After the victory celebration, Nicholas walked Lora back to her room and she was holding onto the trophy, the two still in their swimsuits. During that time, the two had talked with the rest. But now, they wanted a moment to themselves. “I never thought we’d win at first, but I’m glad we did this,” she whispered to him when they got to the door. “I was more for having fun.”
“Then you at least remembered the most important thing,” Nicholas said softly. “Even if we hadn’t it would’ve been fun because we were partnered up.” The female vampire nodded, with a smile. “However… I’ll make sure it continues to happen for you…” The male vampire leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, causing the female to blush hard and look into his eyes “Goodnight Lora…”
“Goodnight Nicholas…” She watched the guy walked away, shocked, but happy that Nicholas had done that. Lora went back into her room with the trophy and set it by her bed. The female flopped on her bed, touching the spot the male had gotten with his lips. It filled the vampire with hope that Nicholas really did feel the same way about her as she did with him. Even if Lora hadn’t said it, now there was nothing to loose at all.
