The Verrisiran High Priestess is known as the Hierophant, and has similar duties and responsibilities as the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. The Verrisiran faith is known as Erykinis, which means 'Church of Spiritual Guidance'. The Hierophant is always female, never male. Although, the Hierophant has mostly been a Verrisir, there have been a couple of non-Verrisirs who have held the position, but you can actually count that number on one (human) hand. Like other Verrisiran priests and priestesses, the Hierophant can marry and have children, but so far, Gevinia Verksura d'Eyldra, the current Hierophant has not taken a mate, although she has had several lovers, both male and female, Verrisir and non-Verrisir. She is also the youngest Hierophant in the history of Erykinis.

You see Gevinia in the city of Uristresni, which holds the same religious significance to Verrisirs as Jerusalem does to Christians, Jews, and Muslims, and functions the same as the Vatican does for Roman Catholics.

And yes, members of the Verrisiran priesthood tend to wear skimpy clothing! It's a tropical planet!
