The NB-3001 was a promotional experiment by the LeisureMech Enterprises manufacturing firm. Designed to both advertise the highly popular BD-3000 Luxury Droid line, as well perform as a solid contender in the Nuna-Ball leagues ... a droid-only spectator sport of Naboo-Gungan origins which was comparable to American Rugby, but using a Nuna creature in its defensive/agitated/inflated state instead of a ball. The sport was galactically popular and can be seen on a viewing monitor in Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.
