I really wanted to draw something for myself. I've been feeling really down about my art recently. I just did not want to draw anymore. I've been comparing myself to other artists on the constant and just hating everything I produce. Drawing something only to scribble it out because it's not good enough. How slow my presence online has been growing has really gotten to me the most. As someone who really hopes to make art a full time job in the future, it's been so disheartening seeing how little reach I have to people online. My account on here and dA barely grow at all and my desire to draw has lessened with the number of favourites I get. (Which is only about 5-10, usually on the lesser side) I know a lot of people always say "it doesn't matter how many followers you have, just draw for you!" Those are the words of a hobbyist. I want this to be my job, so therefore my growth and amount of followers online matter greatly to me. I know it sounds really silly, but I've been posting my work online for almost 8 years but I still feel I'm getting nowhere. When I see low skilled kids surpassing me with generic basic styles, I wonder," where the hell am I going wrong?" and just want to put the pen down completely.
So I pushed myself with this piece, and while it's not amazing or anything like what the successful artists on here publish, I'm pretty damn proud of it. The only thing I can do is keep pushing, and hope I'll have my day in the sun too.
Character and art belongs to me.

You should be proud of this. I completely understand how it feels when you see other's work and you feel like you need to be at a higher level with how long you've been drawing. I've been drawing for 10+ years and I get discouraged often because I feel like I should have pushed myself more and branched out more. I see people that are younger than me making amazing things and my art feels so basic compared to them. Everyone's art journey is different.
But also, everyone views your work differently than you, they don't care or see the mistakes like you do, so I have to remember that.
I love this drawing to pieces, you did so good on everything, The background has detail but it doesn't distract the viewer from your character. Everything feels balanced and I love the colors and theme so much. Like I'd honestly want this printed and framed.
Sometimes it takes a little push to really see what you're capable of. I find I do that when I'm drawing, I try not to "settle" and I push myself further and that's how we get better. It might take some people longer than others but everyone is able to achieve their goals with hard work.
Your art in general is very pleasing to me. I'd love if we could trade or even collab. Keep up the great work and I hope you feel better soon

Ahh gosh I'm slightly emotional after reading this ;o; Your kind words really mean the world to me! I'm so glad that some people genuinely enjoy my work! ;A; I'm a little lost for words tbh so forgive me if my response is lacking but know that I really appreciate what you've said and I'll carry your kind words and advice with me to every piece I work on from here on. Thank you!!!
And a trade or collab would be wonderful! Perhaps when I'm less busy c':

From the first day I laid eyes on your work, you blew me away. I don't know how your numbers haven't soared, but it has nothing to do with the quality of your work. You're a superstar, but you just don't see it yet. :)
There might be some avenues that some other SFW artists have tapped that aren't quite apparent?
Honestly, I like this image because it reminds me of the time I visited some Japanese gardens with a dear friend of mine from out of the states. When I look at this, I can relieve the happiness that I had then. Plus, I love the lighting and how it makes the flower colors 'pop'. :)
