Since Amelie adores her pets, I thought I should do a reference for both Reuben and Goldfish, too! After all, if anyone is to draw Amelie in her home, these two would be somewhere near her. :) Yes, Amelie carries around the fish bowl so Reuben can hang out with she and Goldfish, too... and yes, the cat and fish get along pretty well. After Goldfish fell in the bowl one time, she never dipped her paw in there again.
Reuben - Altum angelfish. You can't really see it, but I drew Reuben smiling. XD A smiling fish. Reuben takes up about half his bowl. He's a big boy and about 2 years old. Reuben was adopted by Amelie when he was just a fry. Either way, a little girl in town was moving away and couldn't take her fish with her, so she (like kids tend to do in creative bursts) held an adopt-a-thon for Reuben in the park. Amelie strolled by and adopted Reuben from the girl... papers and all. Reuben likes when Amelie sprinkles a bit of a biscuit in the water for him. Reuben will come to the top of the bowl if you go near him and he likes to be touched gently.
Goldfish - Goldfish, a 4-year-old British Longhair, was found in a back alley of a bad neighborhood in East London when she was just a kitten. Goldfish is a very large cat and fairly chubby. Goldfish should always be drawn with thick arms and legs and bright eyes. She always follows Amelie aimlessly throughout the house and waits by the window for Amelie to come home. At night, Goldfish likes to roam around London and mingle with her kind, but by morning, she is waiting outside waiting to enjoy her breakfast. Amelie named her cat "Goldfish" simply because she thought it was cute... that and the cat is colored like a goldfish. Goldfish loves her belly rubbed, but don't touch her tail. She'll bite then. Goldfish's markings are symmetrical.
Together, Goldfish and Reuben get along surprisingly well. Sometimes, Goldfish will sit by the bowl and watch Reuben swim around. This annoys Reuben, but every 3 seconds, he forgets how annoyed he is and is happy again... until he is once again annoyed... rinse and repeat. Reuben also sometimes goes to the edge of the bowl and watches Goldfish fall off shelves or rip up furniture. Goldfish also loves to stand on her back legs and peek into the bowl, which sends Reuben into his grassy hiding place. Hey, the guy wants some privacy!
If anyone wanted to draw these characters, they could draw them together with Amelie, only one pet with Amelie, just the two pets interacting, or each pet on his/her own. :)
