Heh, why do you need a scope on a weapon that only shoots 12 inches?

ACTUALLY if you do a bit of number crunching,a bolter can really shoot to a max of 1035 feet. See, a stationary marine can fire a bolter 24", since there are 1.54 cm to an inch, and 10 mm to a cm, divided by 1/28, you get the range it can fire to. the 1/28 is the scale the marines are at.

Yeah I know, I was just goofing around. But wow I never really thought of that way. That would mean my railguns fire...... really far.

Actually, the longest range 40k weapons (72" artillery) can fire up to 5.8 miles or thereabouts. Which is distgustlngly short range compared to US ground AND naval artillery used back in Vietnam. Back then we had cannons that could fire OVER THE HORIZON of our planet, some 19 miles or so.

correction,that range is much shorter than i thought. i was using the Epic Warhammer 40k scale of 1/28 mm, where i believe the normal 40k are closer to 1/6-1/8
