As I walked through the park on this late summer evening, the wind picked up. With it came an unusual chill for this time of the year. I noticed some people had stopped and were taking pictures of something off in the distance behind me.
Curious, I turned and saw the setting sun through a haze of thin cloud cover. And it was then that I intuitively realized what that chill in the air was.
I was witnessing the very first stirrings of Old Man Winter.
It will be some time yet before he is fully awake, but I have a feeling that he will be particularly mean spirited once he's up and about come November.
