A green banana cockroach. Cortez is a deeply philosophical individual, particularly concerned with the corrupt government of his world - a post-apocalyptic Earth where insects survived when man did not.
Reading scraps of texts about great men like Plato, Socrates and their own deep thoughts, Cortez has adopted the idea of free-thought as a God-given right. He spends more time pursuing his philanthropic interests than running the Black Market, as most cockroaches are apt to do in his time.
Here he is studying a butterfly cocoon. By his generation, almost all human scientific texts are gone, so it is not uncommon for insects to rediscover previously known scientific facts. Cortez has a deep interest in evolution, and may one day discover the carefully hidden secret of his people.
