My name is Jason Dimnton. zombie story 12: The silent night
My name is Jason Dimnton. I live in a cottage, a few of miles from town in a mountain forest. The forest is thick and ridged with small cliffs. Usually at night I hear the sound of the night animals but tonight it was quiet, dead silent like darkness had fallen on the forest. I awoke that morning tired I had not slept well. I got out of bed lazily and got dressed. The memory of uneasy silence of last night slowly faded away as I walked down stairs, half awake. I ate my breakfast while thinking about my chores for the day. I needed to go to town to restock on supplies. I had held it off for too long, I didn’t like going to town but I knew I had too. I finish breakfast and walked outside. I wondered what would be the news in the world, as I walked to my truck. I drove into town and looked around. Almost everything was boarded up; it seems foreclosure was even hitting this tiny town. As I drove toward the grocery store, I noticed that the town wasn’t just quiet it was a ghost town. The houses were boarded up and the lawns unkempt and stuff left in a hurry. I saw some cars were left in the streets. Other than a few shopping carts lying idle all over the parking lot it was completely empty. The sight of this made me uneasy and nervous. I kind of felt like the last man alive as I got out of my truck and walked toward the store. I walked inside into the store; I knew here I could find everything I would need to stay another few months in the mountains. But when I looked around there were no signs of life. For the first time I felt uneasy by the emptiness. As I filled my cart up with food, I heard a long soft moan I figured it must be the wind but I still felt uneasy and scared as the moan got louder. I felt like someone was watched me as I quickly grabbed what I needed and left. I quickly walked outside to my truck and loaded up the supplies nervously as the moaning grew louder. I saw a news paper on the ground and I picked it up. The pages were aged from the elements. “End of the World?? New unknown virus is spreading faster than experts predicted. People are advised to fortify their homes and grab any weapons you can. Above all stay away from any infected-“after that the words were too faded to read. I threw the paper into my truck and drove back toward my cottage, speeding. As I drove up to my cottage, the sun began to set and night fell. I quickly threw my supplies inside and grabbed my hunting rifle for protection and began to board up my house, every window and door was fortified. I dead bolted my doors and walked upstairs to do the same, when I heard the crying. It sounded like a small child. I grabbed my flashlight and ran outside; I shined the light around nervously, walked carefully toward the sound of the crying. As I ran though the woods, then I heard the same moaning sound I had heard before at town, but this time the shuffling of something moving though the woods mixed with the sound. I ran faster toward the crying. Soon I saw a little girl with her face buried in the ground. I walked carefully toward her, but when I shined the light on her, she stared at me with mad eyes, and made a high pitched but insane scream as she ran at me. In my panic I stumbled over. She tore at my clothing; I swung my hands trying to fend her off. I grabbed my flashlight and slammed it against her skull as hard as I could. She stumbled over and then jumped at me screaming again as I grabbed my gun and started shooting. I couldn’t see her or see if I had hit her. I felt around blindly and found my flashlight; I turned it back on and looked around. I heard then loud moaning and this time the shuffling in the woods was coming toward me. I grabbed my gun and ran though the trees. Suddenly a branch hit me in the head and I stumbled down hill, I held on to my flashlight best I could but my gun got lost as I fell. When I reached the bottom of the hill I felt sore all over as I got up I felt a sharp pain arm. I heard the moans almost scream louder as I saw the dark figures in the trees. I ignored the pain and ran carefully though the trees until I saw the dark figures surround me with their insane screams. The flashlight’s light blinked and finally went out as they all ran toward me. The woods seemed quiet again as they began tearing my body apart and feasted on my flesh.

See, the more you write the longer and better your stories will be. I liked the setting in this one, being up in the mountains in a secluded area is always terrifying during a zombie outbreak, and you captured that well. The crying girl was a nice way of getting him to go outside, not to mention the timing of the description of her cries helped make this chapter a bit more eerie than your previous ones.
Behold, the dark thoughts of a depraved, zombie-maddened mind take root upon this site and spread its infectious ways to every person and fur. Woe is us~
I'm joking^^ and now for my real comment. Your style is vastly improving my friend, for the longer you spend on this series I can see you delving deeper into the paranoia and the gruesome detailing that captivates my attention. Plus, I hate zombie children!!! DX little girl scares me so much, just like the other story with the children zombies. Their like midgets with creepy eyes and decaying souls >_> I go hide now *ducks under the bed and cowers*
