There actually was a real life Romanian princess called Countess Elizabeth Bathory. She was obsessed with beauty and she felt that by drinking and bathing in the blood of female virgins, she would stay beautiful forever. Some historians have nicknamed her Countess Dracula even though she is not connected to Vlad Tepes (the original Count Dracula).
