Peace day over. Back to our pre-scheduled violence.
I have a license, but never drive. I hate cars... Stoopid lethal chunks of metal. Can't help but roll my eyes whenever hearing someone throttle: "hey, lookit me - i can put my foot on a pedal, i'm just so awesome!". And drunk-driving?.. That's just sad, very sad.

>>I have a license, but never drive.
I stopped in 1985 and have never looked back.
But sometimes, late at night in the woods, I see the hooves of deer curve overhead in the circle of my lamplight as they leap over the bicycle pathway in front of me... and I wonder if I'll end up like the driver of this car.

Well cars are convenient enough for periods of long-distance travel.
Course, if we all rode bikes we'd have those same idiots.
People don't change, just the mediums that they have to express themselves.
Just like if there weren't guns, there'd just be more stabbings.

You can't kill a person as easily with a bike. Injure - yes, kill - very hardly.
Same goes for knives, it takes more manual labor. And a person armed with a knife can be stopped with good use of martial arts.
I'm not saying cars are useless. (They have a use for long distance travels and in cases when you need to deliver cargo.) I mean they're inherently dangerous and I hate idiots who act recklessly behind the wheel. The other bad thing with cars is that they eat fossil fuels, in the city, bikes and public transport are way more reasonable ways to get around. Bikes sometimes being even faster.

I'm just saying. There's a place for everything. I ride my bike everywhere when I need to go places within 20 miles. Anywhere else I take a car. Er, a truck.
As for the comment about knives being less deadly. Yeah, I could definitely see that. Course, most people aren't going to bother learning martial arts. And it's pretty easy to stab and kill someone. Shooting takes about as much novice accuracy. I'd say I could probably kill someone as easily with a good stab as I could with a gun. But I've taken loads of martial arts and anatomy so I know where to stab.

I hate cars as well, and I'm too frightened to drive one. I'd honestly much rather ride my bike everywhere. It saddens me though, when my friend tells me how much I'll need one when I find a job.
As pathetic, or stupid as this may sound, I'd much rather be killed on my bike, than be the one to kill someone while driving a car.
