The island cove Galatea lives in is known to very few- and those who know of it never tell. Galatea was born of the memory of a young gay couple adventuring together, who stumbled across the beach in the middle of the night. They pass on feelings of awe, contentment, and the thrill of keeping a secret, vague memories of quiet heartfelt words, warm skin and soft touches, and the smell of ocean air. They act as a guardian to their humans, and help them out where they can.

Their skin is made from kelp, sea urchin spines, and pieces of cloth washed ashore.
