I didn't get many pics myself. But this one is sort of okay since it was taken with my cell phone.
This is when my older brother and I went to this years tour of Fort Montgomery, or Fort "Blunder" as it's called around here. This is the fort's main entrance. Now it's a typical dirt path. But back when this fort was in service there was a moat before the entrance which had a draw bridge over it.
Now. When you enter into the two large arches you see to the right, there is a large recessed opening on the left wall of the center arch entrance which is curved into the entrance wall and on top. It was a recessed post for a soldier to hide in and protect the entrance.
When you're in that recessed post and you look to the wall in front of you "Or in this photo, the center arches right side wall." The wall was designed to be able to walk between, and to the left side on the wall in the distance was another recessed post.
The post positioning was neat because where each soldier was positioned they could see each other at an angle from where they were stationed.
But some teenager who thought he knew what he was talking about was trying to tell my older brother and I they were fire places.
Yet when you stood in the post and looked at the wall you could see smaller, shorter and more squarish angled ones at ground level which indicated fire places/lighting because they also had some recessed into the wall up above which also showed they probably hung some type of lantern or fire lit stick to light the entrances.
But sadly I didn't get any photos of said cool stuff because the batteries for my REAL digi cam weren't charged and I wasn't going to attempt taking pictures with my cell phone.
If you were to see this particular shot in person it was brighter than heck out that day. Yet here it looks like I was in a cave.
So taking pics of cool stuff with a cell phone in a poorly lit entrance wouldn't do much good.
Sorry for the long description. Enjoy. I'll try to get the other pics off of my older brothers digi cam.
