Schools of Magic: Water Elemental
A little series I wanted to start, and with the aid of
Xypress, it is coming to fruition.
Onyx, ever the scholarly mage, wishes to learn all he can about magic. Magic cannot be relegated to only a couple of aspects if one is to truly understand it. The most basic, but certainly not unimportant, forms of magic are elemental. We know the standard four: Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. Onyx wishes to learn the basics as well as the more advanced forms of said magic.
However, there are other schools that also need perusing beyond the standard elements. Some holy, some that many would see morally questionable, if not outright disgusting. This will not stop Onyx however in learning what he can in order to advance to his ultimate goal: True Mastery in every single aspect of Magic.
Onyx had some written correspondence with the underwater dragons and other aquatic denizens of the sea and after a couple of weeks, they grant him permission to learn from their most powerful water mages, provided he is willing to pay. At first he assumed it was money, but he realizes that powerful mages of any kind place little to no value on acquisition of monetary wealth. What the payment will be demanded in is a mystery that will only be answered once he arrives.
As he is escorted to the city by one of the many gentle, albeit imposing, beasts that are native to the region, his anticipation is certainly palpable.
