The start of a project I'm working on. There are these little snippets of paper you can buy at craft stores and art stores called Artist Trading Cards. I bought 2 packs of 20, and then sat down and started the sketches. Now the pencil sketches are on plain old printing paper and will be transfered to the artist trading cards via light box. Keep in mind that each individual sketch is only 3.5 x 2.5. They're tiny!
Top left:: Swamp Master. A powerful, ancient dragon of the bog. Few who see him live to talk about it.
Did this one in about 30 minutes. Couldn't believe how much detail I got in. Subconsciously, I combined some crocodile anatomy into the head, since he's a swamp dragon, like the shape of the nose and the teeth sticking out. All in all, I really like this one, my favorite dragon on these minis.
Top right:: Phantom, the Gryphon of the Night. I haven't drawn him for some time, so I thought I'd change that.
Middle left:: Had to do an owl, just had to! I love owls! This one is more of a barn owl, my second favorite next to the Great Horned. I love those liquid black eyes and that heart-shaped face.
Middle right:: A progretion of three different breeds of dragon. One, the bottom one, is a small, almost more mammal than reptilian dragon. She's even covered in fur! The second one is a bit bigger, slender, built of speed and agility, while the last one is designed more like a tank. Slow, yes, but good luck killing him anytime soon.
Bottom left:: Snub-nosed European or Western style of dragon.
Bottom right:: Kind, benevilent oriental Spirit Dragon.
