Helio is my (prehistoric) american cheetah guy. I sketch him alot, but this is the first time I've posted anything finished of him here.

America had lots of neat animals 15,000 years ago. Mammoths, rhinos, giant sloths, terror birds, sabretooths, lions, hyenas, giant warthogs, cheetahs, huge bears, camels... it goes on and on. xD

Oh he is pretty. I used to want to be a paleontologist when I was younger. I enjoyed the fake digs we used to go on so much. Ancient species are so beautiful, and you do them great justice when you illustrate them.

I did too, hence my main character's name. xD They actually had us go out to these real fossil beds and dig for some, and we got to keep what we found.

So are you an Oregonian yourself, or were you just visiting way back when? I'm a central Oregonian myself, and couldn't be more delighted to find someone else who knows about the wide variety of long lost critters Oregon used to have.

Lifelong resident of the Portland metro area, but on the Washington side (yey Vancouver lol). We had to go to the John Day fossil beds several times in elementary and middle school, and I remember learning about these and a few other cool animals. Lots of interesting animals used to live here, too bad they don't now.

I absolutely love the colouring and patterns you used for him on this. So soft yet golden and just come out extremely smooth, refreshing and glowy.

Out of curiousity, what programme do you use to colour with?

Your art is the best anthro art... ever. I decided this a long time ago, but I thought you outta know. You always have the best colors and patterns, and the work is so amazingly fluid for OC. XP I use SAI, and it's still a stretch to get as nice line work as yours.

I wish we had more exotic species. Like Cheetahs. Or cave lions. x3 Y'know, I read that as "Hello" twice. >>;; I'm not really a fan of yellow, I hate it really, but you make it work very well. It's attractive.

I wish you could post a bigger picture of him, i see that you have put some very fine detail into it (like around the necklace area) and would love to see it.
