Well, technically the pilot would end up as a prisoner of war.

The effectiveness is questionable. Ok, they could have severly damaged the east coast harbours which could have disrupted reinforcements and supplies.
But I think the effect would be much larger on a psychological scale. The V1 and V2 were able to reach London. This would have reached the east coast. How far would the next one go?

Given that the Germans were primarily hopeful of getting a high-energy weapon for this thing's payload, the usefulness of an ejection seat is even more questionable.
