turns out having a prolonged, intense near-death experience kinda shakes up how u see the world! velarius gives up his position as an Archon (even makes a surprisingly heartfelt and genuine speech about it!), gives his house to his mother and siblings, pays for ivris to find a new ship and crew and runs off to be a pirate with him and valerian :^)
