If they're making her an early teen in this iteration I think the design seems coherent, although that begs the question why would anyone take a superheroine comparable to Wonder Woman and make an underaged version of her. He-Man and Thundercats got really badass remakes years back, why would they take She-Ra and regress her? Even if the show is genuinely good, it still defeats the purpose of a reboot if you're not trying to make it appealing to the people who watched the original.

Well, lets look at other shows where we dealt with teens... Totally Spies - they looked like girls, X-Men: Evolution - they looked like boys and girls, Batman:Beyond - he looked like a boy. WTF was wrong with people looking like boys and girls, or more like young men and young women. No, today everything as to look like nothing because being normal is wrong somehow.

Totally Spies and XM:E seems they were around 15-16, Terry Mcguinness was probably 17-18, the new She-Ra characters look more like 12-13 to me, that's a pretty significant difference. I'm thinking more on the lines of Wilikit and Wilikat, it's not immediately obvious who's the boy and who's the girl aside from Wilikit wearing girly(er) clothes

Art is subjective, we all know that. Tried and True phrase. So when I see their art and how they express it, I get teed off cause in my mind "that is not how art works." I do not see them as artists, I see them as people who think what they are doing is art when really is just a visual microphone in front of them. I'm going to give the show a shot, the 1985 She-Ra looks better artistically but was animated horribly (Filmation was known for poor quality animation due to a quantity over quality mindset). I understand that the 2018 She-Ra is supposed to be younger (pre puberty I'm guessing) and I'm hoping that when its in motion it looks better than what the promotional images are showing off.

I get what you're saying though, this move towards androgynous looking characters is a weird one especially when cartoons of the past didn't do that. Even Steven Universe, probably the most progressive kids cartoon out there now doesn't do that, males look like males and females looks like females. Even the gems which are technically genderless but use female pronouns have some feminine traits (except for Topaz), I would really like to know exactly why they chose to make She-Ra androgynous

When I saw the new She-Ra, I thought.... NO. she looks like a guy wearing white shorts with a She-Ra costume. At least they didn’t royally screw Voltron up. Plus, the original Allura was beautiful but I love the new version of her.

I still don't get why they have to change characters to be "more inclusive", when keeping the same characters but introducing new ones can work as well if not better.
If you want more "SJW-friendly characters", how about introducing LGBTQ+ characters in addition to the original unaltered characters... and make good stories from that?

Don't these people realize that a character can look like an extremely sexy, straight, white, fan-service character with either huge curves or giant muscles... and still be a great character when handled right? Just because they're here doesn't mean other characters on a different spectrum of beauty, gender, orientation, sensibility, etc. are bound to be overshadowed. You just have to make them all act as characters.

For example, Dr Strange had Benedict Cumberbatch and in the end, what was one the most interesting characters of the movie other (and for some even better) than the straight, white, good-looking, powerful wizard who beat an eldritch abomination with time? A sentient fabric of tissue who beats people with itself. Who has no face, no gender, no sexual orientation, and isn't even considered a character in the movie, but that was still written well enough to be enjoyable.

If someone can make a freaking cape interesting enough when you have Cumberbatch as the main actor, why can't you make an interesting SJW-friendly character when you have She-Ra with her original design?
