CAM U-FB-1 "Typhoon"
In 1985 the Civil Aviation of Mai'No'Tia Industries was approached by the government to design and produce a new large water bomber to fight large wild fires anywhere on the planet. The obvious design was to go with a flying boat as the water provided both a runway and resupply depot by just touching down on the surface and scooping up the water. Originally designated the Fire Fighting Flying Boat (FF-FB) yet later redesigned to be used in a variety of roles without major modifications to the individual airframe resulting in the new designation of Universal Flying Boat or U-FB, however kept its original name of "Typhoon" in reference to the large amount of water it could drop on a fire. The designers took inspiration mainly from the Hughes H-4 Hercules flying boat in design of its fuselage with the mixing of others such as the Blohm und Voss BV-238 in the hydrofoil on the bottom of the fuselage, the Messerschmitt Me-323 with forward opening doors, and the Consolidated PBY Catalina in the folding sponsons on the wing tips. the massive size brought the obvious problem of power, lift, and speed, the designers opted for a extremely wide wing even for an aircraft of its size, a deflected trailing edge, and new type of experimental yet innovative engine called the Turbo Rocket which while still in development showed promising implications. The Turbo Rocket was being designed by Mai'No'Tia's foremost aircraft manufacturing company Khan'Ning Aerospace, as a new engine for the production of the next generation of Space Transferring capable aircraft for the CADA and interplanetary transports. Each engine would be placed completely inside and flush to the wing, the aircraft would have 8 pairs of pods with 4 pods in each wing with the intake and exhaust being on the lower side of each edge with that being more important on the trailing edge which would be deflected down to provide additional lift as it is pushed down by the wing. To provide additional lift, the flaps where triple butterfly slatted and would extend nearly 2.5 meters behind the trailing edge and get more flush to the wing and descend when rolling to provide added maneuverability.
