She loves her tickles. She went all soppy so I took some photos the other day.
Love her to bits even though she's a moody little cow. LOL

She is very expressive actually. Some of her faces here are so cute I have to giggle at her. She's daft. When she is really happy she closes her eyes and makes funny purring noises are well. I love her, bless her :) She sometimes shows off, she likes to dance around and bob her head and whistle for people to watch her, she also hangs upside down from things and acts like an idiot XD I lvoe birds, they're very expressive.
hahaha omg your icon! How cute is that i only jsut saw it XD Aww.
Anyway! lol distracted.
I would recommend a parrot. I have only had small birds until Pudding, she is medium sized I guess. She is an adorable bird, despite being a bit naughty and moody some days. :) If you can get one some day I would recommend it very highly :)
Yes she is utterly adorable. hehehe :D

i'm totally thinking about getting a mid-sized parrot. i have a cockatiel, and he's a grumpy-butt sometimes too. i know how birds can be sometimes. XD i'm thinking about getting a meyer's parrot, though. they're so cute.
but what kind of parrot is pudding? i can't figure it out, it makes me doubt my bird-love. ;.; she looks like... some sort of poicephalus to me?

She has the rather unglamorous name of "Brown-Headed Parrot" and she is indeed "Poicephalus cryptoxanthus".
They aren't very popular or common apparently. I have only ever seen one, and that's her! When I was reading up on her when got her I read that not many people seek them out because they "look too boring" compared to other conures which may be true, but she has her own charm and cuteness I think.
Meyers are lovely little parrots, I would have one of them too. I am really starting to like little parrots.
I had a cockatiel just before I had Pudding, she was a very sweet little bird. They are always grumpy though from past experience, I had to put up with her biting the crap out of me before she calmed down and I befriended her as a fledgeling.
I know a lot about birds but I am not an expert. I am still learning a lot. I jsut rear some sometimes but I kinda jsut feel my way with it :s I don't know if thats abad thing.

She's beautiful! Parrots can be so loving and wonderful during their on days, I just adored our large African Grey, Fred. Sometimes he was sweet and lovey, cleaning the teeth being petted and rubbing his head on you but when he was grumpy you KNEW it. One time he lashed out at my mother and bit the flesh in between her nostrils...then hung on instead of letting go, I think he was determined to give her a piercing. Then he later bit my lip in a scar I still have. He was terribly destructive and I've heard that birds turn totally different as they age especially the big ones so I think it's really best to stick with a medium to small size parrot, least then you won't have as much likely hood of losing a body part. However, when he was good I absolutely adored Fred and was very upset when my father sold him. I worked at a pet store for a bit and I would hang out with a conure I forget what breed but she was so lovey and adored cuddling close on my neck, she never really had a bad day. If only I could have afforded her pricetag she'd be mine today, ah well. Least your Pudding is adorable and obviously has a wonderful home!^^
Awwww my god. African Greys seem to be very on or off. I have known a couple, they are all different of course, but the bigger the parrot the higher the "human age/intelligence" and stuff. They often get very imprinted on one person don't they? More so than smaller birds. Pudding is very friendly with me but still bites me soemtimes, though thnakfully it is less and less. She has terrible bad moods though sometimes. I jsut learn not to bother her when she's grumpy. She's bitten me badly but not as bad as she could. It hurts and bleeds loads lol. Nasty bites. That sounds horrid, getting bitten on the nose or lip OUCH god you poor people lol It's sad that he had to go, but I guess they become a problem and they need to find another home to be happy all round so I am sure you did the right thing for everyone including him.
Pudding was a parrot i met in my job. I also worked in a pet store, and had training at another store to where I worked. She was there for two and a half years. I met her and she took a little shine to me but was very attached to one of the girls at the store she lived in. Later on they needed to close their animal unit down so she needed a home. I got her for £340 (she was suppsoed to be £420!) which is the most ive ever paid for an animal so far :P She is worth every penny though because she gives me so much happiness. :) I lvoe her to pieces and would do anything for her to be happy. I think she has a good life here, I like to think so anyway. She comes out of her cage every day and if she doesnt for a day or so it's with good reason, usually when she's really grumpy and doesnt want company.

Yeah tell me about it, we got Fred as a fledgling and my dad was the one he imprinted on, it made sense because he's the one who wanted Fred, but I was a close second up until he didn't get to see me regularly because my parents split. That's also why he was sold, he got malicious with my grandmother and aunt who were taking care of him because my father couldn't spend time with him, that's about the time he bit me too. I have no idea what that soft membrane is called between the nostrils but my mother was livid and she never got along with Fred after that. When Fred bit me I actually felt hurt emotionally that he didn't care for me anymore like I still cared for him, but he'd been kept apart from me too much. Not sure we did the right thing or not, years later my mother's boyfriend was working as a vet nurse and they got in an African Grey named Fred, seemed to be the same bird but we never could really determine. Apparently he gathered the language of a sailor because he was cussing up a storm at the veterinarians, probably my father's doing.
You're so lucky, I would have loved to bring home the parrot that I loved on at my job, she was about 500 dollars though and I just couldn't afford it at the time, I was just starting college. I'm sure Pudding will be fine if you give her more time and get very attached to you, how long does her breed live and how old is she, have you had her long?

Awww what a story :< Poor Fred, he must be a confused little birdie. They're funny creatures, a lot more sensitive than you'd think I reckon.
As for Puds, she is 3 years old this November. She's been moved from "home" to home for ages, people bought her and took her home from the shops she was in but they kept returning her saynig she wasnt friendly enough :/ People dont seem to realise it TAKES TIME for an animal to settle into a new home with a new "flock" and other animals etc. So impatient!! So she ended up at two different pet stores, getting attached to two other people and then I got her. She's got a nasty streak but she's a hell of a lot better now and I trust her very much now. She used to nip a little when she was grumpy but she hasn't bitten me for ages now and we are very close, she comes up to my face all the time and i let her nibble my chin or nose and I am very confident with her, you have to be or she will take advantage and try to spook you :P Which is what she does with my family. They are all nervous and take their hands away from her too fast or whatever and she reacts to it.
As for how long she lives she can live 20-25 years so I will have her for a long time yet!! I hope we get a long long time together and any future kids can grow up with her too without any real problems. XD

I still miss him sometimes, but that's life unfortunately, I just hope he's happy.
Jeez, poor Pudding, to be shuffled around like that. People are awfully impatient with animals expecting them to respond right away, but you're right you just have to be determined, confident and loving and eventually they will come around. My friend has a Conure I think, not sure what species again, I think called Rainbow. Beautiful adorable thing, my friend was rather surprised when Rainbow warmed right up to me and was cuddling against my neck, didn't nip and was enjoying my petting, but then again it seems, and alot of people have said I have a way with animals, but I think this one just wanted love. I absolutely love birds, course then again I love anything, I could probably love a squid in a tank. Have you ever opened your mouth and smiled at Pudding? I used to do that to Fred all the time and he would literally clean my teeth, not sure about the sanitation on that one but gosh it was cute and a funny trick. I'm sure Pudding will be fine with children long as they don't pull her feathers or torture her when you're not looking. Might help to have a higher cage though then. :P

Yes Pudding loves trying to bite my teeth. LOL I try hard not to let her too much because apparently saliva is dangerous to them cuz it has bacteria in it that they don't handle too well, also I didn't trust her as much until now so I only let her nibble around my mouth sometimes. She has a habit of being a bit rough sometimes and catches people offguard so I jsut try keep her in her place. She's very gentle though, and I know she doesnt mean to hurt me if she does, unless she's clearly pissed off about sometihing then I ignore her. Sounds a bit mean but parrots really need to have some dicipline or can be angerous and I don't want that.
I think I prefure conures and smaller parrots as pets for myself over the larger ones, but I really like all birds. A friend of mine has a small African Grey called Baabaa and he's very sweet, though he tried to nip me once but I just ignored him and he came over to see me.
When I first met Pudding, she was unruly and naughty and did try to bite me, but she wasn't trying hard. She was jsut warning me. The problem was that the young staff in the shop played up to her and used to sort of wind her up by talking to her in a certain "you're nasty aren't you!" tone all the time so I am pretty sure she was upset by that. They also avoided her and wouldnt feed her etc as she used to go for them. She learned fast that to get her way she could bite or scream at people, which is how she was when I first took her home. I took her because I felt she'd always be returned to the store until they had no choice but to get rid of her or soemthing, and I wanted to give her a good home and correct her bad behaviour.
The deciding thing for me was the fact that after about an hour and a half i nthe store, she settled on my shoulder and started "kissing" me and apparently the staff were so amazed by this because she never did it to anyone else, they insisted I take her with me, so I did. XD
It took a week or two for us to get along, at first she bit me a lot, even though I le her settle in and stuff. I wanted her to have spae and explore so I would let her out and just ignore her, and only talk to her if she was looking at me. She was fine and came up to me on the 4th day but she bit me really hard and i bled all over the place and my fingers swelled up on the knuckles >.< Nasty bites. I jsut had to remember she was probably very upset and scred, but I cried for a long time each day as I was grieving over losing my Cockatiel and then I was unsure and had regrets about getting a new parrot. It was such an emotional time, I thihk after a while Pudding wanted me to be happier so she started letting me near her more and we clicked.
I would be utterly heart broken if I ever lost her, that's for sure. hahaha sorry I get so excited about talking with bird-lovers :) Sorry if I am boring you! <3

you've got a pretty little girl there. I can tell that she receives excellent care from you. how old is the wee one and is she overly precocious or just a overly emotional bird most of the time? I only ask because I can see a glimmer of rambunctiousness in her eyes similar to that of my trouble making two year old sister... in essence, the gears are always turning and trouble is always a brewing in one form or the other.
anyways, off that topic, tell me something. Horde or Alliance just out of immense curiosity? I only ask because of the shirt. (trust me, I'm just asking to slake my curiosity.)

Horde!!! XD But I have played alliance a litte as well.
Pudding is coming up to 3 years old in November so she's very much a young birdie. She is a very emotional and mischievous bird, but she is thankfully not as posessive or highly strung as she could be. I don't know if this might change when she gets older though, she might settle down and see me as more her mate (she does already, she pines for me whenever i leave the room/house) but she doesnt attack anyone who comes near me or anything she is quite well behaved.
She has settled a lot, I think being moved from pet store to pet store really upset her and she become unruly, she used to attack staff except for one person. When I first got her she was a stressed out little ball of aggression, but after a lot of crying and blood we came to an agreement and she lvoes me to peices now :) She's lovely.

Pudding nibbles too but she can be a bit rough so I don't allow her to very much. She nibbles me gently but I am aware of how fast she bites without understand it hurts or is bad. I am a bit strict with her still about biting because they let he bite really hard where she was in the pet store before and she thinks she can boss people around!! XD
Pickles is still a damn good name for a parrot! I like your little Pickles, she is so pretty and cute :)!! I am glad we have birdies!!!

Ohhhh how sweet I love quail!! I really lvoe them when they're chicks too cuz they look like bumble bees lol!!! XD Aww how lovely. I haven't ever kept quail but I really think they're lovely. You're right, you defiantely pick up a way of communicating with noises and stuff. They are very smart as well jsut as you say :) Pudding is yet to prove her intelligence though, but she is a good mimic.
Awww i am the same :) I had a dove recently in my room as well as the toher two birdies who i released not lnog ago. He had conjunctivitis and had flown into a window and hurt himself. But I think i got him back on his feet, he flew away and sunned himself i nthe trees. I petted him a lot when i was cleaning his poor face every day, he was so sweet. XD
Ooooh. He's ok, but she "got" him recently. He had to go see my vet and it was a bit worrying cuz she tore his throat open a little and broke off the bottom of his jaw. I was really worried he wouldnt eat again properly and he's been feeling very sorry for himeself. He is fine now. It was a really random unexpected accident but he's thankfully ok :< I feel so guilty but I shouldn't. I've put his cage in another room now anyway as she was getting really upset about him being in the same room. He's happy and gets to fly around free all the time rpetty much cuz my mum loves him too much XD And Puds now gets to hop around being nosey in my room with me and her mood is a lot brighter. XD

When I first handled her she pooped on me without a thought. She started off pooping wherever she wanted, but soon she just ended up being very clean about it/ She usually goes back in to her cage and poops now, and she rarely does it anywhere else. When she DOES do it elsewhere, she only chooses a spot on my window ledge and I can clean it up right away.
As for the Budgie, he goes wherever the hell he likes, and he LOVES doing it on the keyboard!!! XD

OH GOD the cute!
Pudding is stunning! I've never met a brown-headed parrot in person... Actually, I've never met a meyers or senegal either. I've been deprived.
I adore when they fluff their feathers up... or yawn... or have a bath... or sneeze... Or... lol
Funny thing is, this is the first time I've seen a picture of one with something next to it for a size comparison. I thought they were smaller! About the size of a caique.
Hope she doesn't chew your mouse cable. I've gone through many mice... if it's not the cable, it's the rubbery roller-ball :c
