allright, so this is probably coming out of left field.
I've been getting into Furbys lately.
like ones that I liberate from secondhand/thrift/goodwill stores.
I've got an old one, a more recent one, and then a little "furbling" one now.
And I wanted to draw them because they're such a cute little weird trio on my shelf, especially since I sewed an outfit for the first one.
has been kinda introducing me to the modding community and stuff. I really never thought I'd be a fan of these goobers, but here we are!

Oh my goooosh... I remember having Furbys as a kid!
They really freaked me out cause I had like two...and I kept them together but separated in my plushie toy bin- and one night they like randomly turned on and started growling and talking with one another and I was too scared to leave my room so I just kinda cowered under the blankets until they stopped talking, then I had nightmares that night but, still didn’t want to get rid of them...
So I tried separated them the next day- one in my closet and one in the toy chest AND THEY STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TURNED ON AND TALKED TO EACH OTHER.
then young Kaz was done with Furbys lmao, but they are cute lil buggers- and seeing the mods people do on them is pretty wicket!

I totally get it, I was actually afraid of them when I was kid too. I had it in my head that they were haunted by default and that they would channel otherworldly spirits at me.
then I found one recently in a secondhand store, and when I turned it on, everyone around me was immediately uncomfortable. and for some reason that made me cackle like a damn hyena and I thought "Okay, you're coming home with me, you earned it."

furbies do that sometimes? the older ones were just like that and it wasn;t a great feature. a lot were super sensitive to any sort of change in *anything* it was ridiculous!
More recent models turn off and stay off easier than older ones, and a lot of members of the adult collecting and modding communities keep batteries out of theirs!
I have like 18 of the buggers and none of them ever turn on randomly without batteries ever.

Pffff good to know they got rid of that feature, it scared the heck outta... 6 year old me? Haha I was not smart enough to take out the batteries, although I think my mom did...I was just too scared to ever put them back in lmao. I have no idea...why they’d make them as sensitive as they were back then ha.
Omg, well it’s good none turn on WITHOUT the batteries, cause that’d be a reaaaaal problem! If I ever got one again, the batteries would be the first thing to go- I do see them in goodwills and what not and kinda grin like- oh you, I remember you cuties.
